The third linocut of a flying winged butterfly cat is a rascal playing a violin over red and yellow flower fields. The fields in the background are soft pastel, and the butterfly cat's wings are colored with markers. In the background, someone is driving a small car on the road between the fields, and I don't think they hear the cat's music. The title of the picture is: "Cats Are Friendly Hosts As Long As You Know Your Place".

The heat of Africa and Southern Europe has come to Finland too. I found a few unfinished prints of linocuts in my closet, featuring a flying cat. So I'm making the background with soft pastel crayons. This butterfly cat playing the violin is hovering over the Sahara. A camel caravan is wandering in the upper right corner. I colored the cat's wings with a marker. The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm. The title was: "Cat's wings and bird's milk. There in the jar is knowledge and skill".

The intention was to make this picture into a Christmas card for next Christmas. Maybe it will work now. In winter, you get a completely different mood when making a winter picture than in summer. I am usually trying to make a Christmas card in July and in the heat. You can't quite get into this winter mood then. The picture was named after Lauri Pohjanpää's poem Squirrell's Christmas: "So Wonderfully the Frost Crackled And Bit". The butterflie cat and snowflakes are linocuts and the background is pastel. The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm.

A butterfly cat flying in a winter landscape needed snowflakes behind it. I have made the flakes as linocuts and glued these small stamps to the caps of champagne bottles. This way I get enough weight when printing the flakes. The butterfly cat is also a linocut. There is a little colored pencil on the wings and the background is pastel. The size is 20 x 20 cm.

A butterfly playing a violin flew over the snowy ridges. The cat is a colored linocut. The background is made with soft pastels. There are blue shadows in the white snow and a high mountain or fell is on the shadow side. Only a few clouds sail in the sky. Small bushes grow along the ridges and in the lower left corner you can see two ski tracks. I found the name from Lauri Pohjanpää's poem Kevät: "The whole forest played its violins".

Another butterfly cat is in the works. The butterfly cat playing the violin is a colored linocut, already previously printed on paper. Now I'm making a pastel background behind the cat, snow. A few cotton candy clouds can be seen in the blue sky and under the cat slopes of snow, blue and white.
Neljäs 20 x 20 cm kokoinen sekatekniikkatyö sai nimensä Juice Leskisen kappaleesta Tanssimaa: "Minut löysit päältä meren tuulisen". Perhoskissa käsin väritettyine siipineen on linopiirros. Taustalla on vettä, rantaa, auringonpalvojia, jotka tein pehmeillä pastelleilla. Näitä hassuja perspektiivikuvia lentävistä kissoista oli niin kiva tehdä, että varmaan niitä syntyy lisääkin.

The fourth 20 x 20 cm mixed media work got its name from Juice Leskinen's song Tanssimaa: "You found me on top of the windy sea". The butterfly with hand-colored wings is a linocut. In the background there is water, beach, sun worshippers, which I made with soft pastels. It was so much fun making these funny perspective pictures of flying cats, that I'm sure there will be more of them.

A butterfly cat flies high above the sandy beach. On the beach, you can see umbrellas, swimming mattresses and people on land and in the water. Summer is hot. The butterfly is a linocut, the wings are hand-colored and the background is pastel. The size of the picture is 20 x 20 cm. The name for this speedy picture came from the PMMP song Rusketusraidat: "Let's throw away all our pants and shirts, let's take a flight".

If you make a linocut of a butterfly cat, it must also fly. A violin-playing cat with hand-painted wings flies over the fields. White sheep are eating grass in the field. The background is pastel. This 20 x 20 cm cheerful work got its name from the song Viulu-ukko by the band Pihasoittajat: "He just plays with the violin, the gang gets into the mood".

This is the fifth in a series of 50 x 30 cm sized mixed media works. The butterfly cat's wings got some more color and a flock of small linocut birds fluttered in the pastel sky. This picture also got its inspiration and name from Lauri Viita's poem Alfhild: "Oh How Wonderful It Is To Live". It may be that this is not the last of this series as I imagined. These five works all have a linocut moon, but now the idea arose to make one more work with the sun.

The fifth work inspired by the Alfhild poem in the series of 50 x 30 cm mixed media works is about to begin. In the lower part there is a linocut of Lake Pyhäjärvi with a rower. The moon and butterfly cat are also linocuts, and more little linobirds are coming to the sky. The yellow sky is pastel.

The fourth 50 x 30 cm mixedmedia work also got its name from Lauri Viita's poem Alfhild: "And When Pispala Gets the Morning..." The butterfly cat's wings also got some red color. And the pastel sky is pretty wild under the blue moon. What kind of day is this going to be in Pispala?

The third in a series of 50 x 30 cm mixed media works is a picture with a colored hot air balloon. The butterfly cat's wings are still missing coloring. And the sky will be pastel blue as my fashion input advises: "summer sky, light blue". In the lower part, there is a linocut of seven cats having a picnic on the upper platform of Pyynikki's observation tower. A couple of small bird stamps are still coming.
