NYT KAIKKI MÄKEÄ LASKEMAAN! / NOW EVERYONE, LET'S GO DOWN THE HILL!

 

Tätäkään versiota A4-kokoisista linopiirroksistani Pispalasta en ole vedostanut yhdessä 20 X 60 cm kokoisena. Arvelin aiemmin, että niitä ei soisi yhdistää alaosassa olevien kattojen tai niiden osien takia. Tämä maisema oli vain yläosa isommasta neljän A4-palan kuvasta, jossa alaosassa näkyi talot kokonaisina. Kuvassa on iso liuta Pispalan maamerkkejä, haulitorni, Näsinneulan näkötorni, Pispalan koulu, Pispalan portaat, Pyynikin näkötorni ja jopa jo purettu hyppyrimäki eli Tahmelan hoppa. Haulitornin ja pari kuplavolkkaria näkötornin juurella väritin käsin.

I haven't printed this version of my A4-sized linocuts of Pispala together in 20 X 60 cm size either. I previously thought that they shouldn't be combined because of the roofs or parts of them at the bottom. This landscape was just the top of a larger picture of four A4 pieces, where the houses were visible in their entirety at the bottom. The picture shows a large group of Pispala landmarks, the shot tower, the Näsinneula observation tower, Pispala school, Pispala stairs, Pyynikki observation tower and even the already demolished ski jumping hill, or Tahmela hoppa. I hand-colored the shot tower and a couple of bubble Volkwagens at the foot of the observation tower.

Kissakortti: 679 / Cat Card: 679 : mirocomachiko

Suuri valkoinen kissa täyttää kokonaisen punotun korin. Silmät ovat oudon punaiset, mutta ehkä punainen väri vain osui mirocomachikon käteen. Maalaus on tehty nopeasti, mutta ei hätäisesti vaan nauttien jokaisesta vedosta kissan turkissa ja korin reunoissa. Maalauksen nimi on Leipomon kissa / Bakery Cat ja kissa näyttääkin hiukan nousseelta taikinalta, pyöreältä ja pehmeältä.

A large white cat fills an entire wicker basket. The eyes are strangely red, but perhaps the red color just hit the mirocomachiko's hand. The painting was done quickly, but not in a hurry, but enjoying every stroke on the cat's fur and the edges of the basket. The painting is called Bakery Cat and the cat looks a bit like risen dough, round and soft.

FINLAYSON ART AREA / FAA 2026 -NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

2026 FAA / Finlayson Art Area -näyttelyt Galleria Himmelblaun tiloissa Tampereella ovat avoinna 13.6 - 16.8. ti-su klo 11-18 (suljettu juhannuksena 19. -21.6.).

Aikaa näyttelyjen kokemiseen kannattaa varata.

Yksi iso tehdassali esittelee Ossi Somman veistostaidetta. 1960-luvulta lähtevä poliittinen vire teoksissa näkyy kuten patsaassa, jossa tasapainotellaan jumalan/ihmisyyden ja mammonan välillä. Tuoleja on tosi paljon.

Toisessa tehdassalissa OivaToikan lasiteokset heijastavat myös vuosikymmenien tyylit tai niiden pysyvyyden. Hauska oli jokseenkin samanlainen pari vuosilta 1968 ja 2004.

Yhden salin täyttävät viiden taiteilijan Kaksi aurinkoa- näyttely. Kameraan jäi pari kuvaa Erik Niemisen maaalauksista.

Yksi kokonainen kerros on omistettu Himmelblaun grafiikanpajassa kautta vuosikymmenten tehdylle grafiikalle. Mielenkiintoisin näyttely!

Osa taiteilijoista on tuttuja, Himmelblaun näyttelyissä nähtyjä ja rakastettuja kuten Esa Riippa, Inari Krohn tai Tiina Kivinen. Mukana on iso joukko ainakin itselleni tuntemattomampia tekijöitä ja hieno pari Teemu Mäenpään tiikeristä ja siitä, miten grafiikka voi väreillä ja vedostusjäljellä muuttaa kuvan tunnelmaa.

Ulkona parkkihallin seinällä on Petri Nuutisen suuri valokuvateos, useista porrasaiheista hienosti koottu. Ja parkkihallin portaissa (sisäänkäynti ovesta vasemmalla seinäkuvasta) on lisää pienempiä valokuvia, joiden muodot sopivat hienosti vanhan porrashuoneen betoni- ja tiiliseiniin.

2026 FAA / Finlayson Art Area exhibitions at Gallery Himmelblau in Tampere are open from 13.6 - 16.8. Tue-Sun 11am-6pm (closed during Midsummer from 19-21.6). It is worth reserving time to experience the exhibitions.

One large factory hall presents Ossi Somma's sculpture art. The political mood originating from the 1960s is visible in the works, such as in the statue, which balances between God/ human soul and Mammon. There are a lot of chairs.

In the other factory hall, OivaToikka's glass works also reflect the styles of the decades or their permanence. A couple from 1968 and 2004 were somewhat similar.

One hall is filled with the Two Suns exhibition by five artists. The camera caught a couple of pictures of Erik Nieminen's paintings.

One entire floor is dedicated to the graphics made in Himmelblau's graphic workshop over the decades. The most interesting exhibition! Some of the artists are familiar, seen and loved in Himmelblau exhibitions, such as Esa Riippa, Inari Krohn orTiina Kivinen. There is a large group of artists who are at least unknown to me and a great couple of Teemu Mäenpää's tigers showing how graphics can change the mood of a picture with colors and a print.

Outside on the wall of the parking garage is a large photographic work by Petri Nuutinen, nicely assembled from several staircase themes. And on the stairs of the parking garage (the entrance from the door to the left of the wall picture) there are more smaller photographs, the shapes of which fit nicely with the concrete and brick walls of the old stairwell.

En olekaan vedostanut tällaista versiota aiemmin kaivertamistani Pispalan harju-linopiirroksista. Tässä kuvassa on yhdessä kaksi A4-kokoista linoa, joten kuvan koko on 20 x 60 cm. Vasemmassa reunassa valo loistaa Pispalan haulitornista ja oikealla reunalla valoa näkyy Pyynikin näkötornin yläosassa. Jokseenkin keskellä kuvaa nousevat Pispalan portaat, joten kuvan nimeksi tuli "Portaat huipulle". Iso lintu on merikotka, joita nähtiin useita liitelemässä Pyhäjärven yllä.

I have not printed earlier this version of the Pispala ridge linocuts I have engraved before. This image contains two A4-sized linocuts, so the size of the image is 20 x 60 cm. On the left edge, light shines from the Pispala shot tower and on the right edge, light can be seen at the top of the Pyynikki observation tower. The Pispala stairs rise somewhat in the middle of the image, so the image was named "Stairs to the top". The big bird is a white-tailed eagle, several of which were seen soaring above Lake Pyhäjärvi.

Kreikkalaisen valokuvaaja Stamatis Yelesin kissakuva on varmasti otettu Kreikassa. Valo on juuri sellainen kuin sen muistan Kosilla käynnistä. Keltainen kissakin siristelee silmiään valossa. Ja Kreikassahan kaduilla riittää itsenäisiä kulkukissoja. Tässä kuvassa kaksi kaverusta loikoilee auringossa ja sanoo: "Lähde siitä jo ja jätä meidät rauhaan!"

The cat photo by Greek photographer Stamatis Yeles was definitely taken in Greece. The light is exactly as I remember it from my visit to Kos. The yellow cat even squints in the light. And in Greece, there are plenty of independent stray cats on the streets. In this photo, two friends are lounging in the sun and saying: "Get out of there and leave us alone!"

EMMI KALLIO - NÄYTTELY /EXHIBITION

Emmi Kallion taidenäyttely Myrsky aukesi Kangasalla Kimmo Pyykkö -taidemuseossa ja se on avoinna 13.6.2026 - 10.1.2027.

Aiemmin näkemäni Emmi Kallion maalaukset ovat olleet selkeästi abstraktisen ekspressiivisiä. Nyt tuttujen hiukan taitettujen värimassojen joukosta erottuu ihmisiä, jalkoja ja käsiä, maisemia ja luonnon hahmoja. Mutta mahtavassa koko seinän täyttävässä muraalissa vyöryvät värit kuin tuuli ja pilvet. Avajaisissa ei tuullut, mutta tänään jo herättiin Myrskyn viuhuntaan. Näyttelyn kuraattori toimi Veikko Halmetoja.

Aina Kangasalla käydessä pitää käydä tervehtimässä myös Pyykön rottaa.

Emmi Kallio's art exhibition Myrsky /Storm opened in Kangasala at the Kimmo Pyykkö Art Museum and will be open from 13.6.2026 to 10.1.2027. The paintings by Emmi Kallio that I have seen before have been clearly abstract expressive. Now, among the familiar, slightly folded masses of color, people, legs and hands, landscapes and natural figures pop out. But in the magnificent mural that fills the entire wall, the colors roll like wind and clouds. There was no wind at the opening, but today we woke up to the howling of Myrsky /Storm. The curator of the exhibition is Veikko Halmetoja. Whenever you visit Kangasala, you must also say hello to Pyykkö's rat.
