KOKO METSÄ VIRITTI VIULUJAAN / THE WHOLE FOREST PLAYED ITS VIOLINS

 

Viulua soittava perhoskissa lennähti lumisten harjujen ylle. Kissa on väritetty linopiirros. Tausta on tehty pehmeillä pastelleilla. Valkoisessa lumessa on sinisiä varjokohtia ja korkea vuori tai tunturi on varjon puolella. Taivaalla seilailee vain muutama pilvi. Pieniä pensaita kasvaa harjujen kupeessa ja vasemmassa alakulmassa näkyy kahdet suksen jäljet. Nimen löysin Lauri Pohjanpään runosta Kevär: "Koko metsä viritti viulujaan".

A butterfly playing a violin flew over the snowy ridges. The cat is a colored linocut. The background is made with soft pastels. There are blue shadows in the white snow and a high mountain or fell is on the shadow side. Only a few clouds sail in the sky. Small bushes grow along the ridges and in the lower left corner you can see two ski tracks. I found the name from Lauri Pohjanpää's poem Kevät: "The whole forest played its violins".
