Nikolai Lehto (1905-1994) on yksi Suomen varhaisimmista naivisteista. Hän oli ammatiltaan mainospiirtäjä, maalasi traditionaalisia ja realistisia maisema- ja henkilökuvia. Vasta myöhemmällä iällä hän siirtyi surrealistisempaan ja naivistisempaan tyyliin. Hänen maaluksissaan ihmiset ja eläimetkin ovat paikoillaan, liikettä ei ole. Työt muistuttvat hiukan lapsellisia piirustuksia, ovat pelkistettyjä ja aika humoristisia. Nikolai Lehtoa näkee Art Pispalassa tammikuun 2025 naivistisessa taidenäyttelyssä.

Nikolai Lehto (1905-1994) is one of the earliest Finnish naive artists. He was an advertising illustrator by profession, painting traditional and realistic landscapes and portraits. Only at a later age did he move to a more surreal and naive style. In his paintings, people and animals are still, there is no movement. The works are somewhat reminiscent of childish drawings, simplified and quite humorous. Nikolai Lehto´s art can be seen at the naive art exhibition at Art Pispala in January 2025.
