AURINKO KIMALTAA / SPARKLING SUN

Uusin linopiirros auringosta on kimaltava. Lisäsin musteen päälle ennen kuivumista kiillettä. Kuva ei tosiaan tee oikeutta kiillolle! Itse pidän tästä, sillä se on ihan erilainen eri suunnista. Tausta on monotypia ja kuvan koko 15 x 15 cm.

 The latest linocut of the sun is sparkling. I added glitter to the ink before it dried. The picture really doesn't do the shine justice! I personally like this one, because it's completely different from different directions. The background is a monotype and the size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

LISÄÄ AURINKOJA / MORE SUNS

Hymyilevä aurinko, jonka ohi pääskyset lentävät, yksi aika haalea aurinko ja yksi iso aurinko syntyivät peräkkäin. Näitä oli kiva tehdä! Auringot ovat linopiirros, samoin pääskyset pieniä linostamppeja. Taustan taivaat ovat monoprinttejä. Kuvien koko on 15 x 15 cm.

A smiling sun with swallows flying past, one rather pale sun and one large sun were created one after the other. These were fun to make! The suns are linocuts, and the swallows are small linocut stamps. The skies in the background are monoprints. The size of the images is 15 x 15 cm.

 

ILOINEN AURINKO / HAPPY SUN

 Iloinen aurinko virnistää taivaalla ja pääskyset lentää ohi. Vedostin li nopiirroksen auringosta kaksi kertaa päällekkäin, ensin vaaleamman oranssin  ja päälle tummemman. Auringon naama ja pääskyt ovat liopiirroksia, taivas monoprintti. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The happy sun grins in the sky and swallows fly by. I printed the linocut of the sun twice, first a lighter orange and then a darker one on top of it. The sun's face and the swallows are linocuts, the sky is a monoprint. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

TIKKA JA KUU / WOODPECKER & MOON

 Linopiirros tikasta lentelee monotypiataustalla ohi oranssin kuun. Tikan pää ja vatsa on väritetty käsin punaisiksi. Näitä linokuita oli kiva testailla. Taidan jatkaa linoauringoilla. Kuita on nyt neljä, kunkin  koko 15 x 15 cm.

A linocut of a woodpecker is flying past an orange moon on a monotype background. The head and belly of the woodpecker are hand-colored red. It was fun to test these moon linocuts. I think I'll continue with linocuts of the sun. There are now four of these moons, each measuring 15 x 15 cm.

LISÄÄ KUITA/ MORE MOONS

Muutamassa uudessa linopiirroksessa kuusta on monotypiataustalla stamppeja/leimasimia linopiirroslinnuista. Yritin tehdä lintuja valkoisina, mutta ne eivät kunnolla erotu siniseltä pohjalta. En vieläkään ole löytänyt kunnolla peittävää valkoista akryyliväriä! Oranssin kuun kuvion painoin ensin  gellilevylle ja vasta siitä paperille. Oikeastaan pidän tuosta hiukan sumeasta painojäljestä. Kuvien koko on 15 x 15 cm.

In a few new linocuts of the moon, there are stamps of linocut birds on a monotype background. I even tried to make the birds white, but they don't really stand out against the blue background. I still haven't found a white acrylic paint that covers well! I first printed the orange moon pattern on a gelli plate and only then on paper. I actually like that slightly fuzzy print. The size of the images is 15 x 15 cm.

KUU JA PIKKULINNUT / MOON AND SMALL BIRDS

Kuu on linopiirros, jonka "vedostin" gellilevylle ja siitä paperille taustan  sinertävän monoprintin kanssa.  Pienet stampit/leimasimet linnuista ovat linopiirroksia. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

Tein jo kymmeniä linopiirroslintuja monotypiataustalla. Kun huomaa, että työpöytä on muuttunut karmeksi kaaokseksi ja työvälineitä on kertynyt kasoiksi, aavistelee, että nyt pitää lopettaa monotypiasotkut vähäksi aikaa. Mutta sitä ennen ehtii vielä hyvin kokeilla kuita tai aurinkoja. Käytin kuun ja auringon linopiirroksia monoprinttikuvioina. Toimiihan sekin. Näille kuville kuista ja auringoista pitää varmaan tehdä vielä jotain viimeistelyä.

I've already made dozens of linocut birds on a monotype background. When you notice that your desk has turned into a terrible chaos and your tools have piled up, you know that it's time to stop the monotype mess for a while. But before that, there's still plenty of time to try moons or suns. I used linocuts of the moon and sun as monoprint patterns. That works too. I probably need to do some finishing on these pictures of moons and suns.

Tämä lintu on ehkä haukka, joka pelästyy kun se on melkein lentänyt sinua päin. Siivet ja pyrstö ovat levällään ja silmät tapitttavat päässä. Monotypiaan taustalle yritin tehdä pilviä, hiukan uhkaaviakin ja joissakin on punertavaakin taivasta. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

A dozen in all! This twelfth linocut bird in the series of winged birds on a monotype background is probably the last one for now. This bird is perhaps a hawk that gets scared when it has almost flown towards you. The wings and tail are spread out and the eyes are stuck in the head. I tried to make clouds on the background on the monotype, a bit threatening and some have a reddish sky. The size of the picture is 15 x 15 cm.

Onko teoksen koolla väliä? Omat työni ovat uuden työhuoneen myötä parin vuoden aikana suurentuneet kun on enemmän tilaa pöydällä ja lattialla. Samalla linopiirroksien yhdistely pastelli- ja monotypiatekniikkaan on tuonut töihin väriä. Neljä tähän mennessä suurinta työtäni on jo myyty, ja sehän innostaa miettimään jo uusia, enkä taida vieläkään luopua ideasta yhdistää Pispalan maisemaan lintuja, kaloja tai kumpaakin - taivasta ja vettä.

Does the size of the work matter? My own work has grown in size over the past two years with the new studio, as there is more space on the table and floor. At the same time, combining linocuts with pastel and monotype techniques has brought color to the work. Four of my largest works so far have already been sold, and that inspires me to think about new ones, and I still don't think I'll give up on the idea of ​​combining birds, fish, or both - sky and water - with the Pispala landscape.

PYSÄHDYS / STOP IN THE AIR

 

Yhdestoista linopiirroslintu monotypia-taustalla on joko lokki tai haukka. Lintu on pysähtynyt paikalleen ilmassa siivet ylhäällä ja pyrstö leveänä räpytellen ja katse tarkkana alas. Se valmistautuu joko nappaamaan kalan vedestä tai hiiren pellolta. Yhteen kuvaan lisäsin pieniä linolintuja valkoisina ja parissa kuvassa kokeilin tehdä kuvioita muoviveitsen terällä. The eleventh linocut bird on a monotype background is either a seagull or a hawk. The bird has stopped in place in the air with its wings up and tail flapping wide and its gaze intently downward. It is preparing to either catch a fish from the water or a mouse from a field. In one image I added small linocut birds in white and in a couple of images I tried to make patterns with the blade of a plastic knife. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

KELTARINTA / YELLOW-BREASTED BIRD

 

Kymmenes linopiirroslintu monotypia-taustalla tässä sarjassani on keltarinta. Lintua on väritetty käsin keltaiseksi. Osaan kuvista olen lisännyt pieniä linopiirrospääskyjä. Tavoitteeni monotypioissa oli saada vaikutelma taivaasta, kevyestä avaruudesta ja jossain kuvissa on hiukan vihreää maata alalaidassa. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The tenth linocut bird on a monotype background in this series is a yellow -breasted tit. The bird has been hand-colored yellow. I have added small linocut swallows to some of the images. My goal in the monotypes was to get the impression of the sky, light space, and in some of the images there is a bit of green earth at the bottom. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

KOLIBRI / HUMMINGBIRD

 

Yhdeksäs linopiirroslintu monotypia-taustalla on kolibri. Lintu on paikallaan ilmassa ja vain räpyttelee siipiään. Näihin kuviin tuli punaista taustalle monotypiaan. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The ninth linocut bird on a monotype background is a hummingbird. The bird is stationary in the air and just flaps its wings. These images were made with some red background for the monotype. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.
