LINNUT NOUSEVAT KUIN VARRETTOMAT KUKAT / BIRDS RISE LIKE FLOWERS WITHOUT STEMS

 

Lisäsin kokeeksi kaksi eri kokoista pientä linolintua sinisessä kuplassaan lentävän linnun lisäksi tähän kuvaan Pispalasta. Taidan pitää eniten tuosta versiosta, jossa on isompi stamppilintu.Tämä linopiirros on neljäs sarjassa 20 x15 cm Pispala-kuvia. Yhdessä on fasaani, yhdessä kissa ja tässä lintuja. Voisin kokeilla neljän kuvan yhdistämistä yhdeksi 20 x 60 cm kokoiseksi. Tämän version nimeksi tuli rivi Pertti Niemisen runosta: "Linnut nousevat kuin varrettomat kukat".

As an experiment, I added two small lino birds of different sizes in addition to the bird flying in its blue bubble to this image of Pispala. I think I like the version with the larger stamped bird the most. This linocut is the fourth in a series of 20 x15 cm Pispala images. One has a pheasant, one has a cat and this one has birds. I could try combining the four images into one 20 x 60 cm size. The name of this version was a line from Pertti Nieminen's poem: "Birds Rise Like Flowers Without Stems".

The fourth linocut in the series of rather small (20 x 15 cm) Pispala pictures is of a bird. The bird is in its own bubble in the sky above the wooden houses of Pispala.

SUORAAN PÄIN / STRAIGHT AHEAD

 

Tusina täyteen! Tämä kahdestoista linopiirroslintu sarjaan siivekkäitä monotypia-taustalla taitaa olla tällä erää viimeinen. Tämä lintu on ehkä haukka, joka pelästyy kun se on melkein lentänyt sinua päin. Siivet ja pyrstö ovat levällään ja silmät tapitttavat päässä. Monotypiaan taustalle yritin tehdä pilviä, hiukan uhkaaviakin ja joissakin on punertavaakin taivasta. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

A dozen in all! This twelfth linocut bird in the series of winged birds on a monotype background is probably the last one for now. This bird is perhaps a hawk that gets scared when it has almost flown towards you. The wings and tail are spread out and the eyes are stuck in the head. I tried to make clouds on the background on the monotype, a bit threatening and some have a reddish sky. The size of the picture is 15 x 15 cm.

PYSÄHDYS / STOP IN THE AIR

 

Yhdestoista linopiirroslintu monotypia-taustalla on joko lokki tai haukka. Lintu on pysähtynyt paikalleen ilmassa siivet ylhäällä ja pyrstö leveänä räpytellen ja katse tarkkana alas. Se valmistautuu joko nappaamaan kalan vedestä tai hiiren pellolta. Yhteen kuvaan lisäsin pieniä linolintuja valkoisina ja parissa kuvassa kokeilin tehdä kuvioita muoviveitsen terällä. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The eleventh linocut bird on a monotype background is either a seagull or a hawk. The bird has stopped in place in the air with its wings up and tail flapping wide and its gaze intently downward. It is preparing to either catch a fish from the water or a mouse from a field. In one image I added small linocut birds in white and in a couple of images I tried to make patterns with the blade of a plastic knife. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

KELTARINTA / YELLOW-BREASTED BIRD

 

Kymmenes linopiirroslintu monotypia-taustalla tässä sarjassani on keltarinta. Lintua on väritetty käsin keltaiseksi. Osaan kuvista olen lisännyt pieniä linopiirrospääskyjä. Tavoitteeni monotypioissa oli saada vaikutelma taivaasta, kevyestä avaruudesta ja jossain kuvissa on hiukan vihreää maata alalaidassa. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The tenth linocut bird on a monotype background in this series is a yellow -breasted tit. The bird has been hand-colored yellow. I have added small linocut swallows to some of the images. My goal in the monotypes was to get the impression of the sky, light space, and in some of the images there is a bit of green earth at the bottom. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

KOLIBRI / HUMMINGBIRD

 

Yhdeksäs linopiirroslintu monotypia-taustalla on kolibri. Lintu on paikallaan ilmassa ja vain räpyttelee siipiään. Näihin kuviin tuli punaista taustalle monotypiaan. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The ninth linocut bird on a monotype background is a hummingbird. The bird is stationary in the air and just flaps its wings. These images were made with some red background for the monotype. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.

SIIVET / WINGS

 

Kahdeksas linopiirros linnusta monotypia-taustalla on oudon näköinen lintu: iso pyrstö, pienet siivet ja mahtava pää. Parissa kuvassa on taustalla monotypiana pitsikuvio. Tämä lintu näytti yksinään jotenkin orvolta, joten lisäsin kuviin pieniä linopiirroslintuja, leimasimia oikeastaan, Myös väritin linnun pyrstön, yhden vähän enemmänkin. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The eighth linocut of a bird on a monotype background is a strange-looking bird: a big tail, small wings and a huge head. In a couple of pictures, there is a lace pattern in the background as a monotype. This bird looked kind of orphaned on its own, so I added small linocut birds to the pictures, stamps actually. I also colored the bird's tail, one a little bit more. The size of the picture is 15 x 15 cm.

LENNOSSA / FLYING

Tätä linopiirroslintua ei oikein tunne, leveät siivet, pieni pyrstö ja karvaiset jalat. Siis vain: lintu lennossa. Kokeilin kullanvärisiä täpliä taivaalle, kuin tähtiä. Edelleen pohdin, kumpi on parempi linnun taustalle, selvärajainen sapluunan jälki monoprintillä vai epämääräinen "tahra". Kuvan koko on 15 x 15

This linocut bird is not really recognizable, wide wings, small tail and hairy legs. Just: a bird in flight. I tried golden spots in the sky, like stars. I'm still wondering which is better for the background of the bird, a clear stencil mark on monoprint or just a vague "stain". The size of the picture is 15 x 15 cm.

 

HAIKARA / Stork

 

Kuudes linopiirroslintu on haikara. Tausta on monotypia, ja näissä monissa versioista aika tumma. Parissa taustassa on pitsikuviota mukana. Linopiirroksessa haikarasta on aika paljon ulkonevia. kapeita osia: pää, siivenkärjet, pyrstö ja jalat. Kokeilin, miten tuollainen kuvio erottuu aika sotkuisesta ja tummasta taustasta. Linnun ympärille on hyvä jättää sapluunan avulla hiukan vaaleampi alue. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The sixth linocut bird is a stork. The background is a monotype, and in these many versions it is quite dark. A couple of the backgrounds have lace patterns. In the linocut, the stork has quite a lot of protruding, narrow parts: the head, wing tips, tail and legs. I tried to see how such a pattern would stand out from the rather messy and dark background. It is good to leave a slightly lighter area around the bird using a stencil. The size of the image is 15 x 15 cm.
