Kissakortti: 425 / Cat Card: 425

 Ranskalaisen impressionistin Pierre Bonnardin (1867-1947) maalauksessa "Maitolautanen" valot ja varjot vaihtelevat herkullisesti. Ikkunasta valo laskeutuu pöydälle ja naisen kasvoille ja hameelle. Ulkona on kirkasta, ja ikkunan ja  parvekkeen kaiteen monet muodot kuvioivat pöytää. Pöydällä oleva maitolautanen hehkuu. Sitä haluaisi varmasti maistaa lattialla varjossa oleva tumma kissa. Luulin ensin, että naisella on kädessä pieni maitolautanen kissalle, mutta se on kyllä hiusharja. Kortti os joskus ostettu Tate Gallerystä, jossa taulu on esillä.

In this painting "The Bowl of Milk" by French Impressionist Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) light and shadows are mingling deliciously. The light from the window is cast on the table and woman´s face and skirt. It´s bright outside, and the many shapes of the window and balcony railing are patterning the table. The bowl of milk is glowing. A dark cat on the floor would surely like to taste it. At first I thought that the woman is holding in her hand a small bowl of milk, but it must be a hair brush. This card was bought sometimes at Tate Gallery where is is hanging on the wall.

KOIRIA IITTALASSA / DOGS IN IITTALA

Vein lisää kehystämättömiä linopiirroksia Naivistit Iittalassa - kesänäyttelyn aulashoppiin. Vielä siis ehtii näyttelyyn ja ostoksillekin. Näyttely on auki 29.8.2021 asti. Myynti näyttelystä tuntuu olevan huima, seinällä on tiuhaan punaisia pilkkuja. Tällä kertaa näyttelyä kierrellessä puhelimeen tarttui koiria.

I took more unframed linocuts to Naïve Artists in Iittala summer exhibition´s lobby shop. So you can still visit the exhibition and even buy art. The exhibition is open till August 29, 2021. There are a lot of red dots on the walls, so the the sales from the exhibition seem to be wild. Walking around the exhibition this time there came dogs to my phone. 

KISSA JOULUIKKUNASSA / CAT IN A CHRISTMAS WINDOW

 

Lisäsin lumihiutaleita linopiirroksina käyttäen leimasimia kuvaan, jossa kissa istuu ikkunalla ja seinä on punainen. Tästä tulee joulukortti. Tosi vaikea vaan on keskellä kesähelteitä ajatella joulua, pimeää, kylmää ja lunta. Sieltä se on tulossa kuitenkin, levitetään lämmön tunnetta jouluun.

I added some linocut snowflakes using stamps to my picture of a cat sitting in the window, and the wall is red. This will be a Christmas card. It´s just so hard in the middle of this summer heatwave to think about Christmas, dark, cold and snow. But it is coming anyway, so let´s spread some warm feelings for the Christmas.

NORJALAINEN VILLAPAITA - edistystä / NORWEGIAN SWEATER - some progression

 Linopiirros norjalaisesta villapaidasta on hiukan edistynyt. Ehkä siitä vielä joulukortti syntyy. Nyt olen leikannut villapaidan irti ja teen vedostuksen ns. jigsaw/palapeli -tekniikalla. Väritän villapaidan punaisella värillä ja muun osuuden mustalla tai sinisellä. Liitän sitten väritetyt palaset yhteen ja voin näin vedostaa kuvan yhdessä samalla kertaa.

The linocut of a Norwegian sweater ha progressed a bit. Perhaps there will be a Christmas card at the end. Now I have cut the sweater off and I´m going to print the picture using so called jigsaw (or zigzag) technique. I colour the sweater with red colour and the rest black or blue. Then I combine the pieces and so I can pull the picture all together at the same time.

Olen nähtävästi kortin takana olevan tervehdyksen perusteella saanut tämän kortin työtovereiltani kirjastossa vuonna 1994. Kuvan ottanut vuonna 1981 Paavo Korhonen, joka perusti kivimuseon kirjaston alakertaan. Kuvassa on ehkä Korhosen oma kissa, jolla myös on ollut joku juhlapäivä ruususta päätellen. Kissa ei kyllä näytä olevan ollenkaan juhlatuulella, enemmänkin se taitaa tuntea tulleensa häirityksi.

Based on the greeting at the back of the card I have received this card from my fellow workers in the library in 1994. The photograph was taken in 1981 by Paavo Korhonen who started the stone museum at the basement of the library building. Maybe it is Korhonen´s own cat in the picture. The cat may also have had some kind of celebration judging by the rose. The cat seems not to be in the mood for celebration, more like feeling disturbed.

NORJALAINEN VILLAPAITA - aloitusta / NORWEGIAN SWEATER - beginning

 Aloittelin joulukorttia eli linopiirrosta norjalaisesta villapaidasta Iittalan maalaustapahtumassa jokunen viikko sitten. Nyt työ hiukan edistyi kun pahimmat helteet hellittivät. Kissa on menossa hiihtämään sauvat kädessä ja norjalainen villapaita yllään. Taustalla on lumihiutaleita. Tuntuu ihan absurdilta, että Suomessa tosiaan muutaman kuukauden kuluttua on tällainen keli.

I started a Christamas card ie. linocut of a Norwegian sweater a few weeks ago at the painting happening in Iittala. Now this work progressed a little when the hottest heatwave cooled a bit. A cat is on her way to skiing with the poles in her hands and wearing a Norwegian sweater, There are snowflakes at the background. It´s feeling quite absurd, that there really is this kind of weather in Finland in a few months. 

HAULITORNIKORTTEJA / CARDS OF PISPALA SHOT TOWER

Vietiin lisää Pispalan haulitornikortteja Pispalan pikku puotiin. Mikä sen parempi paikka myydä tai ostaa haukitornikortti kuin tässä pienessä puodissa haulitornin juurella, Haulikatu 4:ssä. Kauppa on ainakin elokuun vielä avoinna joka päivä klo11-18. Haulitornikortteja on nyt viisi erilaista mallia A5-kokoisia postikortteja, joista kahdesta mallista on myös A6-kokoisia taitettuja kortteja kuorineen.

We took to Pispalan pikku puoti (Pispala Small Shop) mote cards of Pispala shot tower. This is really the best place to sell or buy a card of Pispala shot tower at the small shop just under the shot tower, Haulikatu 4. The shop is open at least for August and open every day from 11 am till 6 pm. There are now five different cards of the shot tower sized A5, and two of these can be found also A6 sized folded with an envelope.

KISSA KYLPEE / CAT TAKING A BATH

 

Viime aikoina on ollut niin kuumaa, että jopa kissa nauttii kylvystään. Maailman kirjat sekaisin! Tein virkistyksekseni tämän pienen linopiirroksen (15 x 15 cm) kissasta, joka kylpee. Pari pientä kylpylelua on käsin väritetty.

Lately its been so hot, that even a cat is enjoying her bath. The world is upside down! I made  just for my recreation this small (15 x 15 cm) linocut of a cat taking a bath. Two small bath toys are hand coloured.

Oikealla kuvan yläsivussa on hiiren oviaukko. Sieltä hiiri on tullut ulos ja iso kissa on vanginnut sen hännän tassunsa alle. Hiiri anoo polvillaan pääsyä takaisin kotikoloonsa. Mahtaako tuo onnistua? Kissalla on naamallaan varsinainen Cheshire-virne kuin Liisa Ihmemaassa -kirjan kissalla puussa. Kaikki hampaat näkyvät ja vihreät silmät kiiluvat. Mutta vain hiiren hännän päällä olevan tassun kynnet ovat näkyvissä. Kissan epätavallinen sininen turkki ja keltainen parkettilattia muodostavat hienon väriskaalan. Naivistinen maalaus on Stig Janssonin (s. 1936).

On the right upper side there is the doorway of the mouse. The mouse has come out from there and the big cat has captured his tail under her paw. The mouse is begging on his knees for re-entry to his home. Might that be possible?  The cat has on her face a real Cheshire smile like the cat on a tree branch in the book Alice in Wonderland. All the teeth are visible and the green eyes are gleaming. But the nails are out only on the paw over the mouse´s tail. The unusual blue fur and the yellow parquet floor are forming a fine colour scale. This Naïve Art painting was done by Stig Jansson (b. 1936).

VILSKETTÄ IITTALASSA / BUSY DAYS AT IITTALA

 

Vietiin loput keittiöpyyhkeet Naivistit Iittalassa -kesänäyttelyn aulashoppiin. Siellähän kävi vilske! Aulashopista ostettiin linoja, pyyhkeitä ja kortteja. Näyttelyseinältä kaikki työni oli myyty. Ja aulassa Maritta Hirvosen Pikkukamarimusiikkia-kirjojen ohessa ollut kansikuvatyö oli myös myyty ja sen tilalla on nyt vihreä puhelinkioski-linopiirros. Nämä huomasin omista töistäni, ja muutenkin myynti tuntuu olevan vilkasta sekä näyttelystä että aulashopista. Kännykkääni tarttui taas kissakuvia, myös ulkoa asfaltilta, jossa hiiri oli piiloutunut maton alle. Nyt löysin myös Miia Ylikosken hauskat keramiikkaveistokset. Näyttely on auki vielä 29.8.2021 asti.

We took the last of my tea towels to Naïve Artists in Iittala summer exhibition´s lobby shop. There was very busy! People were buying at he lobby shop linocuts, tea towels and cards. All my works at the exhibition walls were sold. And at the lobby shop the cover picture for Maritta Hirvonen´s book of short stories Pikkumarimusiikkia / Little Chamber Music was also sold, and in its place there is now a linocut of a green telephone booth. These I spotted about my own works, and the sales seemed to be brisk both at the exhibition and lobby shop. I found some cat pictures again in my mobile, even outside on tarmac, where also a mouse was hidden under a carpet. Now I also found Miia Ylikoski´s nice ceramic sculptures. The exhibition is open till August 29, 2021.
