Ranskalaisen impressionistin Pierre Bonnardin (1867-1947) maalauksessa "Maitolautanen" valot ja varjot vaihtelevat herkullisesti. Ikkunasta valo laskeutuu pöydälle ja naisen kasvoille ja hameelle. Ulkona on kirkasta, ja ikkunan ja parvekkeen kaiteen monet muodot kuvioivat pöytää. Pöydällä oleva maitolautanen hehkuu. Sitä haluaisi varmasti maistaa lattialla varjossa oleva tumma kissa. Luulin ensin, että naisella on kädessä pieni maitolautanen kissalle, mutta se on kyllä hiusharja. Kortti os joskus ostettu Tate Gallerystä, jossa taulu on esillä.

In this painting "The Bowl of Milk" by French Impressionist Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) light and shadows are mingling deliciously. The light from the window is cast on the table and woman´s face and skirt. It´s bright outside, and the many shapes of the window and balcony railing are patterning the table. The bowl of milk is glowing. A dark cat on the floor would surely like to taste it. At first I thought that the woman is holding in her hand a small bowl of milk, but it must be a hair brush. This card was bought sometimes at Tate Gallery where is is hanging on the wall.
