INTERIN JOULUPUOTI AVOINNA / INTERI´S CHRISTMAS SHOP OPENS

 

Tämä on jo perinne! Interiry:n eli Tampereen taideteollisen yhdistyksen joulukauppa Runebergin mökissä Haiharassa aukeaa. Hirsitalo näyttää lumen keskellä romanttiselta, ja sitähän se onkin. Sisällä on käsitöisen ja pienten taideteosten paljous: villasukista, lasiin ja puukauhoihin. Omalla pöydälläni ja seinälläkin on linopiirroksia, keittiöpyyhkeitä, kalenteri 2025 ja kortteja. Pieniä lahjoja ja omia joulun iloja!

This is already a tradition! The Christmas shop of Interi ry, the Tampere Association of Arts and Crafts, opens in Runeberg's cottage in Haihara. The log house looks romantic amidst the snow, and it is. Inside there are a lot of handicrafts and small works of art: from wool socks, to glass and wooden spoons. On my own table and wall there are linocuts, tea towels, a 2025 calendar and cards. Small gifts and your own Christmas joys!

KESÄ JATKUU MAARITIN SEINÄLLÄ / SUMMER CONTINUES ON MAARIT´S WALL

 

Linopiirros "Kesä jatkuu. Kesä" sai paikkansa Maaritin seinällä pianon yläpuolella. Kiva oli kuulla Maaritin muistelua sukunsa vaiheista kun mm. töitä oli tehty Kaarilan kartanossa Gaddin puutarhalla, josta ehkä linopiirroksessa oleva Tahmelan rannan kynäjalavan taimikin on peräisin. Olenko hiukan ylpeä, no kyllä! Ja taulun nimi on Maaritin lempirunoilijan Lauri Viidan runosta Onni

The linocut "Summer continues. Summer" found its place on Maarit's wall above the piano. It was nice to hear Maarit reminisce about her family's past, when, among other things, work had been done at Kaarila Manor in the Gadd garden, from which perhaps the elm sapling on the Tahmela beach in the linocut also comes. Am I a little proud, yes! And the name of this picture comes from Maarit´s favorite poet Lauri Viitas´s poem Happiness.

HAUKKA, HAWK

 

Vedostin lisää pienenpieniä  (7 x 7 cm) linopiirroksia monoprint-pohjalla, nyt haukkoja. Pieni haukka on paikalalaan taivaalla ja aikoo juuri syöksyä maahan, ehkä jonkun myyrän kimppuun. Kaksi kuvaa on punertavalla pohjalla ja kaksi vihertävällä ja kaksi lensi roskakoriin kun vahingossa laitoin haukan sapluunan monoprint-pohjalle väärinpäin.

I made more tiny (7 x 7 cm) linocuts on a monoprint base, this time of hawks. A small hawk is standing still in the sky and is about to swoop down, maybe to attack a mole. Two of the images are on a reddish base and two on a greenish one, and two ended up in the trash when I accidentally placed the hawk stencil on the monoprint base the wrong way around.

ISOT SIIVET / BIG WINGS

Pienen pienellä monotypia-pohjalla lentää isosiipinen lintu.Kuvan koko on vain 7 x 7 cm ja aion laittaa sen 15 x 15 cm kehykseen tai kehyspahviin. Tein näitä siivekkäitä lintuja vain kaksi, toisessa on punainen tausta ja toisessa linnunkin alla on hiukan väriä.

A large-winged bird flies on a small monotype base. The size of the image is only 7 x 7 cm and I plan to put it in a 15 x 15 cm frame or frame board. I only made two of these winged birds, one has a red background and the other has a little color under the bird.

SULAT SEINÄLLÄÄN / FEATHERS ON THE WALL

Yllätys, ja kiva sellainen! Sain uuden valokuvan linopiirroksestani omalla kotiseinällään. @johannamariarosvall omistaa tämän Sulat sinivihertävällä monoprinttipohjalla ja linopiirroskehyksessä.Sulat näyttävät kevyiltä, leijailevilta valkoisessa, kapeassa kehyksessä. Ja mikä kaunis ympäristö taululla onkaan, kukkiva joulukaktus, pitsiliina ja lasilamppu. Kiitos Johanna!

A surprise, and a nice one! I got a new photo of my linocut on its home wall. @johannamariarosvall owns this Feathers on a blue & greenish monoprint base and in a linocut frame. The feather looks light, floating in a white, narrow frame. And what a beautiful setting the painting has, a blooming Christmas cactus, a lace tablecloth and a glass lamp. Thanks Johanna!

Thomas Westerin valokuva on hänen kirjastaan Kissoja / Katter.Hyvin hämmästynyt mustavalkoinen kissa kurkkaa oven takaa. Kissan täytyy olla jonkun tuolin tai pöydän päällä, miten se muuten olisi ovenkahvan korkeudella? Musta väripalkki halkoo kuvan, ovessa on pyöreä lukko ja seinässä neliönmallinen sähkökatkaisin. Hauskojen muotojen kimaraa jatkaa kissan valkoinen naamari.

Thomas Wester's photo is from his book Cats / Katter. A very surprised black and white cat peeks out from behind the door. The cat must be on some chair or table, how else would it be at the height of the doorknob? A black color bar divides the image, there is a round lock on the door and a square electrical switch on the wall. The chimera of funny shapes is continued by the cat's white mask.

KISSOJA JA MUSTARASTAS KOTONAAN / CATS AND BLACKBIRD AT THEIR HOME

 

Kuvat linopiirroksista kotonaan saavat minut aina yhtä töpinöihini. Tässä kuva kaverini @ailiilii :n kotoa. Kunniapaikalla television päällä on kolme linopiirrostani, joista vanhimmat (kaksi kissaa ja mustarastas) ovat varmaan jostain vuodelta 2014 ja uusin (Höpsistä pussiin) tältä vuodelta 2024. Kymmenen vuotta! Ja työt ovat hienosti mustissa kapeissa kehyksissä aika lähellä ihanaa vanhaa puukaappia.Kiitos kuvasta Aino-Liisa!

Pictures of linocuts at their home always make me so happy. Here's a photo of my friend @ailiilii 's home. In a place of honor above the TV are three of my linocuts, the oldest of which (two cats and a blackbird) are probably from somewhere in 2014 and the newest (Höpsistä) from this year 2024. Ten years! And the works are nicely in black narrow frames, quite close to a lovely old wooden cabinet. Thanks for the photo Aino-Liisa!

LISÄÄ PIENIÄ MONOPRINTTEJÄ / MORE SMALL MONOPRINTS

 

Vedostin gelli-levyllä lisää 15 x 15 cm papereille pieniä monoprinttejä. Kunhan ovat kuivuneet, vedostan monoprinttien päälle linopiirroksia: kaloja, lintuja, perhosia. Kivaa on kokeilla kaikenlaista, värien levitystä muoviveitsellä, puuhaarukalla, pesusienen palalla, ruiskuttaa vettä värin päälle ja mitä nyt keksiikään. Nyt hiukan epäröin, osuuko linopiirros juuri sille sapluunan avaulla jätettyyn aukkoon jos reunat ovat ihan terävät, vai pitäisikö aukkojen olla olla reunoistaan epämääräisempiä.

I used a gelli plate to trace small monoprints onto 15 x 15 cm papers. Once they are dry, I print linocuts over the monoprints: fish, birds, butterflies. It's fun to try all sorts of things, spreading the colors with a plastic knife, a wooden fork, a piece of a sponge, spraying water on the color, and whatnot. Now I'm a little hesitant whether the linocuts will fit right into the hole left by a stencil if the edges are quite sharp, or whether the holes should be more vague.

PIENET MONOPRINTIT / SMALL MONOPRINTS

 Pienet 15 x 15 cm paspeissa tai kehyksissä olevat linopiirrokseni alkoivat loppua, Siispä aloitin uusien teon. Näihin monoprintti-pohjiin vedostan pieniä linopiirroksia: perhosia, lintuja ja mitä vielä. Monotypia-phjien teko on aikamoista sotkua ja suttaamista: gelli-levy, akryylivärejä, erilaisia ja erilaisia sapluunoita, suteja, superloninpaloja, valmiiksi leikattuja 15 x 15 cm kokoisia paperinpaloja, rättejä ja innostusta.

My small 15 x 15 cm linocuts in passepartouts or frames were starting to run out, so I started making new ones. I print small linocuts on these monoprint bases: butterflies, birds and whatnot. Making monoprints is quite a mess and smearing: gelil plate, acrylic paints, various and different sized stencils, pieces of superlon, pre-cut 15 x 15 cm pieces of paper, and enthusiasm.

G.E.Studdyn kuvassa, jonka nimi on "Bonzo", kissa neuloo paikkaa Bonzo-koiran housujen persuuksiin. Paikka on pirteän punainen kuten lankakeräkin. Kissan ja koiran välillä tuntuu olevan mukavaa kumppanuutta. Kortissa on teksti:"Olen myöhässä sen kirjeen kanssa, toivottavasti tämä korjaa asiaa". Teksti sopii hyvin kuvan aiheeseen paikan ompelusta.

In G.E.Studdy's picture called "Bonzo", the cat is sewing a patch for the Bonzo the dog's pants. The patch is cheerfully red like the ball of yarn. There seems to be a nice partnership between the cat and the dog. The card has the text: "I'm late with that letter, hope this'll make amends". The text fits well with the subject of the picture about sewing the patch.
