Tämän kortin kuvaajasta ei ole tietoa. Kuva on upea. Kuvaaja on ehkä soittanut ovikelloa, kissa on avannut postilaatikon ja katsoo ulos. Kissa on ehkä hiukan vihainen, sillä se on jätetty yksin sisälle. Kynnetkin ovat jo valmiina oman reviirin puolustukseen.

There is no mention of the photographer of this card. Maybe the photographer has ringed the door bell, the cat has opened the letter box and is looking outside. The cat might be a bit angry because he/she has been left inside home alone. Even his/her nails are ready to defend his/her own territory.

Kissakesä - näyttelyni Runebergin mökissä lähti mukavasti käyntiin viime viikonvaihteen Wanha Haihara-päivillä, satoja kävijöitä, jutustelua ja feikkitatuointeja lapsille sekä lapsenmielisille. Kehyspahveissa olevia linoleikkauksia myytiin hyvin, samoin julistetta ja kortteja. Näyttelytila on kaunis, tumma lautalattia, vanhat tummat hirsiseinät ja iso takka. Töitä on seinillä runsaasti: 46. Huoneessa on kolme ikkunaa, kaunein näkymä on vanhaan puistoon - isojen puiden rauhaa. Samassa rakennuksessa on Interin ry:n kesäpuoti, josta en malttanut olla ostamatta kahta kaunista puulusikkaa - maltankohan koskaan käyttää niitä.

My exhibition Summer of Cats in Runeberg´s Cottage started finely last weekend at Old Haihara happening, hundreds of visitors, conversation and instant tattoos for children and
child-minded. Linocuts in cardboard frames sold well, and so did poster and cards. The exhibition room is beautiful, dark wooden floor and very old dark log walls, and a large fire place. There are a lot of art on the walls: 46 works. There are three windows in the room, the most beautiful scene is to the old park - peace of the old trees. In the same building there is Interi ry´s summer shop, and I could not resist the temptation to buy two beautiful wooden spoons - dare I never use them.
Poikkesin taas Naiviistit Iittalassa kesän 2015 näyttelyssä. Vein lisää kortteja aulashopin myyntiin sekä pari lisäkappaletta linoleikkausta haukasta Pispalan harjun yllä. Ilokseni huomasin, että myös ensimmäinen uusi öljyvärityöni lentävästä kissasta oli myyty. Kaikkiaan tämän kesän näyttelyssä alkaa jo olla runsaasti punaisia palloja eli myytyjä.
Vielä katsoin uudelleen koko näyttelyn ja ilahduin edelleen yläkerran Kati Mikolan isoista öljyväritöistä. Kuin uusilta tuntuivat Nasta lautaan (kilpa-autoilua) ja My Name is Bond (mäyrä). Enkä voinut olla hymyilemättä Eino Viikilän keramiikkatyölle Vaimoni ensimmäinen neuletyö.

I stopped over again in this summer´s 2015 Naïve Artists in Iittala exhibition. I delivered more of my cards and a couple of extra pieces of my linocut of a hawk over Pispala Ridge for the gallery shop. To my delight i noticed that my first new oil painting of a Cat Who Dreamed She was a Butterfly was sold. All in all in this summer´s exhibition there were already quite a lot of red dots (ie sold). I went once again through the exhibition and was still delighted in the upstairs of Kati Mikola´s large oil paintings. These felt like new: Pedal to the Metal (car racing) and My Name is Bond (a badger). I could not help smiling to Eino Viikilä´s ceramic sculpture: My Wife´s First Knitting.
Englantilaisen Sheila Robinsonin (1925-1988) linoleikkaus Tom Cat saa ihan haukkomaan henkeä. Kuinka monta eri värilaattaa tähän lopputulokseen on tarvittu, ainakin sininen, vihreä, keltainen ja ruskea. Värit on hienosti vedostettu päällekkäin ja saatu näin kokonaan uusia sävyjä. Kissan keltainen turkki on kuitenkin puhtaan värinen. Siinä on keltaista ja ruskeaa. Jonkinlaista liukuvärjäystäkin on käytetty. Kissan turkin monet kuviot, viivat, pisteet ja pilkut on kaiverrettu hienosti.

English Sheila Robinson´s (1925-1988) linocut Tom Cat makes you almost gasp for breath. How many different colour plates were needed for this end result, at least blue, green, yellow and brown. The colours are finely pulled on top of each other and so achieved totally new colour combinations. Still, the fur of the cat is pure and clear. There are yellow and brown in it. Some kind of gradient colouring has been used. The many patterns of the cat´s fur, spots, lines and dots are masterly carved.

Ensimmäinen oma näyttelyni Kissakesä avautuu perjantaina 3.7.2015 Runebergin mökissä Haiharassa. Enpä olisi arvannutkaan, miten paljon käytännön hommaa oman näyttelyn järjestelyyn liittyy: teosten valinta tai karsinta, kehystys, numerointi, ilman kehyksiä myytävien töiden pussittaminen, listojen teko jne. Näyttelyjulisteen teko oli hauskaa. Valitsin keskelle kuvaksi linoleikkauksen Tahmelan portaita nousevasta kissasta ja yhdistin taustaksi palasia Heinäsirkka-linosta. Timo, Japa Mattila ja Juhani Vesikko olivat suureksi avuksi värin valinnassa, taitossa ja painatuksen järjestämisessä. Juliste on aika iso: 70 x 50 cm. Nyt ei enää ole edessä kuin näyttelyn pystytys. Seinille pitäisi mahtua 46 työtä.

My first own art exhibition Summer of Cats is opening on Friday, 3rd of July, 2015 in Runeberg´s Cottage in Haihara, Tampere. I could never have guessed how much practical work there is organizing your own exhibition: selecting or deleting the works, framing, numbering, bagging the ones without the frames, making the lists etc. It was fun to make the poster. I chose a linocut of a cat climbing the Tahmela steps to the centre and then combined pieces of a linocut of a grasshopper to the background. Timo, Japa Mattila and Juhani Vesikko were a great help selecting the colours, typesetting, and organizing the printing. The poster is quite big: 70 x 50 cm. Now there is ahead only the hanging of the exhibition. There will be 46 works on the walls.
Bruno Mason kissakortissa on hieno keltainen väri. Sama sävy toistuu paperissa, kissan silmissä ja vanhan kirjoituskoneen tekstissäkin. Musta ja keltainen on voimakas yhdistelmä, hiukan uhkaavakin.

Bruno Maso`s cat card has a fine yellow colour. The same hue is repeated in the paper, in cat´s eyes and even in the text of an old type writer. Black and yellow is powerful combination, perhaps even a bit threatening.

Tampereella ei kovin usein törmää muraaleihin. Tällaisen kuitenkin näin Rautatienkatu 14:n sisäpihalla. Seinämaalaus on jo hiukan haalistunut, ja se on sijoitettu rautaisten mattotelineiden ja puisen huvimajan taakse. Muraalin tekijästä minulla ei ole tietoa. Kuvassa on monenlaista liikettä, junia ja erilaisia aikatasoja, Villiä Länttä ja nykyaikaa.

It is not very common to come across a mural in Tampere. Still, I saw this in the inner yard of Rautatienkatu 14. The mural is already a bit faded and it situated among iron rug rags and a wooden summerhouse. I don`t know the maker of this mural. In the picture there is a lot going on: there is movement, trains and different time levels, old Wild West and present time.
Pari Timon kirjoittamaa satua (Perinteet velvoittavat sekä His Master´s Voice) ovat nyt saaneet kehykset. Satu ja tekemäni linoleikkaus-kuvitus on yhdistetty samoihin kehyksiin. Nämä ovat menossa näyttelyyni Runebergin mökissä heinäkuussa.

Two of Timo´s fairy tales (Traditions Are Binding and His Master´s Voice) are now framed. The fairy tale and my linocut illustration are combined to the same frame. These are going to be at my exhibition in Runeberg´s Cottage in June.
Tämä linoleikkaus on kuvitusta Timon satuun karhusta ja muurahaisesta. Muurahainen alkoi rehvastella karhulle, ja huonostihan siinä kävi. Karhu söi koko muurahaispesän. Tässä kuvassa karhu ja muurahainen vielä keskustelevat siitä, kumpi on voimakkaampi.

This linocut is illustration for Timo`s fairy tale about a bear and an ant. The ant started to swagger to the bear, and of course it went bad. The bear ate the whole anthill. In this picture the bear and the ant are still debating about the fact: which one of them is the strongest.
Mia Bergqvistin (s. 1974) öljymaalauksen nimi on Onnensukat. Maalaus on ollut Naivistit Iittalassa -kesänäyttelyssä vuonna 2012. Iittalassa olen jo pitkään ihaillut Bergqvistin naivistisia, iloisia, humoristisia ja värikkäitä töitä. Kuvassa kissalla on jalassaan onnea tuovat punaraitaiset sukat, otsalla logolla varustettu hikinauha ja kasvoillaan päättäväinen ilme. Vihreä nurmikko ja talot sekä valkoinen tie tuovat syvyyttä maalaukseen. Pilvet ovat kuin reikäjuustoa ja potkupallo on minikokoa.

Mia Bergqvist´s (b. 1974) oil painting is called Lucky Socks (Onnen sukat). The painting is made in 2012 and was exhibited in Naïve Artists in Iittala exhibition. I have already in several years admired Bergqvist´s naivist, happy, humorous and colourful works. In this picture the cat wears his lucky socks with red stripes, sweat band with a logo on his forehead and a determind expression on his face. A green lawn, houses and a white road give depth to the picture. The clouds are like Swiss cheese and the football in a mini version.
