JEROMA TABELL & JUHA ISOMETSÄ - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Galleria Koppelossa käytiin Taiteenystävien kanssa ihastelemassa Jeroma Tabellin maalauksia ja Juha Isometsän grafiikkaa. Tabellin Ikanos-maalaukset (antiikin kreikkalainen termi vahvalle, rohkealle ja taidokkaalle) suoraan katsojaa katsovasta miehen päästä ovat ihan erityisiä, niissä voi olla tietokoneen osia tai mitä vain. Kuvissa on tarinoita ja Jeroman hieno esittely avasi työt ihan uudelle tasolle. Anteeksi valon heijastuksia kuvien lasissa!

Jeroma Tabellin työt Koppelon alakerrassa ja Juha Isometsän grafiikka vintillä - täydellinen pakkaus. Juhan töitä pitää päästä tiirailemaan ihan läheltä. Kuvissa on aina joku juju, piiloviesti tai kätketty merkitys. Ja Juhan esittely oli loistava, avasi nuo salaiset merkit! Suositus käydä itse tsekkaamassa!

We went to Gallery Koppelo with Art Friends to admire Jeroma Tabell's paintings and Juha Isometsä's graphics. Tabell's Ikanos (ancient Greek term for strong, brave and skillful) paintings of a man looking directly at the viewer are very special, they can have computer parts or whatever on them. There are stories in the pictures and Jeroma's great presentation opened the work to a whole new level. Sorry for the light reflections in the glass of the pictures!

Jeroma Tabell's work on the ground floor of Koppelo and Juha Isometsä's graphics on the wintry - a perfect package. You have to get to see Juha's work up close. There is always some gimmick, message or hidden meaning in the pictures. And Juha's presentation was great, opened those secret signs! Recommended to check for yourself!

MENOPAUSSI - NÄYTTELY / MENOPAUSE EXHIBITION

Galleria Koppelossa Tampereella on Apropoo-työryhmän näyttely Menopaussi. Työryhmään kuuluvat Juha Isometsä, Pirkko Koskinen ja Tuija Virta. Heidän työnsä ovat metalligrafiikkaa, kuivaneulaa, mezzotintoa ja myös chine colléta. Yhteistä on myös, että työt ovat pieniä, vaativat tarkastelua läheltä, sillä yksityiskohtia on paljon. Naisten grafiikassa näkyy enemmän luontoaiheita, kasveja, eläimiä ja maisemia. Mutta eniten minua viehättivät Juha Isometsän töiden hienot ja herkät värisävyt, hento jälki ja huumorikin. Hänen aiheinaan ovat ihmiset ja kaikenlaiset kotoiset esineet, harjat, meisselit, kengät ja lelut kuten näyttelyjulisteessa. Näyttelyssä oli myynnissä myös aivan ihana pieni kirja: Löytöretkellä, Pirjo Kaupin runoja ja Juha Isometsän grafiikkaa.

There is Menopause exhibition by Apropoo group at Gallery Koppelo in Tampere. Apropoo consist of Juha Isometsä, Pirkko Koskinen and Tuija Virta. Their works are metal graphics, dry point, mezzotint and also chine collé. The works are also small, require that you look at them closely, because there are a lot of details. Graphics by women are depicting more subjects from the nature, plants, animals and landscapes. But I was more attracted by delicate and subtle hues, tender traces and even some humour in Juha Isometsä´s graphics. His subjects are people and all kind of domestic objects, brushes, screw drivers, shoes and toys like on the poster of the exhibition. There was on sale at the exhibition a quite wonderful small book: Löytöretkellä (Voyage of Discovery), poems by Pirjo Kauppi and graphics by Juha Isometsä.

KISSANPÄIVÄT / CAT DAYS

Kissanpäivät on sopiva nimi linoleikkausteni näyttelylle Koskenmäen koulun galleriatilassa Nokialla. Näyttelytila on keskellä isoa koulua aulassa, josta ovet vievät opettajanhuoneeseen ja rehtorin kansliaan. Galleristina toimii opettaja Juha Isometsä, joka valitsee näyttelyt. Juha tekee mielestäni tosi hienoa työtä koulullaan opastamalla lapset taiteen ja näyttelyiden pariin jo ala-asteelta. Saatiin mahtumaan 33 linoleikkausta näyttelytilan seinille. Ripustussysteemi oli tosi näppärä: kattokiskosta siimoja ja nipistimiä. Taulut olivat seinällä hujauksessa ja vieläpä suorassa.

Cat Days is a suitable name for my exhibition of linocuts in Koskenmäki School's gallery space. The Gallery is in the middle of a big school and the doors from the gallery are

leading to teacher's room and principal's office. Teacher Juha Isometsä works as the gallerist and he also selects the exhibitions. I think Juha is doing a really fine job steering pupils to arts and exhibitions already from the primary school. We managed to squeeze 33 linocuts on the walls of the gallery. The hanging system was really neat: plastic lines from the ceiling rails and clips. The pictures were hung up in a jiffy and they were even straight.

METSO: APROPOO - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Tampereen pääkirjasto Metson yläaulassa on Apropoo-taiteilijaryhmän (Juha Isometsä, Pirkko Koskinen, Tuija Virta) grafiikkanäyttely. Pidin erityisesti Juha Isometsän etsaus/akvatintoista. Painojälki oli nautittavan kaunista ja aiheet hauskoja: Tavarataivas ja Uskalikko. Tavarataivaassa erilaiset työkalut ja esineet muodostivat monenlaisia kuvioita ja samoin Uskalikon kalsareissa oli punainen kuviointi. Taidetta voi todella tehdä ihan tavallisista arkisistakin aiheista, ne tuntuvat tutuilta, melkein voisi tuntea käsissään esineiden tekstuurin.

On the mezzanine of Tampere main library Metso there is a graphic art exhibition of the group Apropoo (Juha Isometsä, Pirkko Koskinen, Tuija Virta). Especially I liked Juha Isometsä's etching/aquatints. The printing was enjoyable beautiful and the subjects witty: Tavarataivas (Stuff Heaven) and Uskalikko (Daredevil). In Stuff Heaven different tools and items form various patterns and likewise in Daredevil's underpants there is a red patterning. Art can really be made of the very ordinary everyday objects, they feel familiar, you could almost feel the texture of the items in you hands.
