PIRKKO VALO - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Yksi osa talven 2019-2020 naivistista näyttelyä Iittalassa on Pirkko Valon (1943-2009) retrospektiivinen näyttely. Nämä työt ovat hiukan naivismin valtavirtauksesta poikkeavia töitä. Tekniikka on joko hyvin pientä, yksityiskohtaista grafiikkaa, etsauksia tai sitten suuriakin vesivärimaalauksia, jotka ovat kerroksellisia, täynnä yksityiskohtia ja tosi pienillä siveltimillä maalattuja. Aiheet kumpuavat jostain alitajunnasta tai arkipäivän elämästä, on hellyyttä, eläinhahmoja, naurua ja symboliikkaa. Mieleen tulee ilman muuta kansantaide, pehmeät värit, luonnon läheisyys ja ornamentit.

One part of this winter´s 2019-2020 Naïve At exhibition in Iittala is the retrospective of Pirkko Valo (1943-2009). These works a bit off the main stream of Naïve Art. The technique is either very small detailed graphics, etchings or sometimes quite large watercolour paintings, which are many-layered full of details and painted with really thin brushes. The subjects are coming somewhere from the subconscious or from the everyday life, there is gentleness, animal characters, laughing and symbolism. All this reminds me of course of the folk art, the soft colours, nearness of the nature and ornaments.
