YÖ VÄISTYY YLTÄ KATTOJEN / THE NIGHT RECEDES FROM THE ROOFTOPS

Valmis! Pispalan ylle nousee linnunrata - muistuttaa jotain taivallista räjähdystä. Taivas on täynnä tähtiä ja lentelee siellä muutama sudenkorentokin. Pispalan harjulla haulitorni on väritetty punaiseksi tussilla. Alaosa ja korennot ovat linopiirroksia, taivas pehmeää pastellia. Kuvan koko on 88 x 39 cm. Nimensä kuva sai Juice Leskisen kappaleesta Afroditen poika: " Yö väistyy yltä kattojen ja valon nähdä saan, kun yksin ulos tuijotan".

***************
Ready! The Milky Way rises above Pispala - reminiscent of some celestial explosion. The sky is full of stars and a few dragonflies are flying there. The shot tower on the Pispala ridge has been colored red with a marker. The lower part and the dragonflies are linocuts, the sky is soft pastel. The size of the picture is 88 x 39 cm. The picture got its name from Juice Leskinen's song Aphrodite's son: "The night recedes from the rooftops and I can see the light, when I stare out alone".

TÄHDET TAIVAALLE / STARS IN THE SKY : 4

Linnunradan ympärille alkoi nyt tulla tähtiä, isompia ja paljon pienempiä. Tähdetkin ovat pastellia, mutta joukossa on myös tussilla tehtyjä. Oikealla reunalla paistaa pienen pieni kuunsirppi.

*****************

Stars began to appear around the Milky Way, larger and much smaller. The stars are also pastel, but there are also some made with markers. A tiny crescent moon shines on the right edge.

LINNUNRATAA/ MILKY WAY : 3

Pispalan harjun ylle alkoi nyt muodostua pastelliliiduilla linnunrataa. Varmasti taivaalle on myös tulossa tähtiä, keltaista, sinistä, violettia.

 ************

The Milky Way is now starting to form over the Pispala ridge in pastel chalk. There are certainly stars coming into the sky too, yellow, blue, purple.

LINNUNRATA / MILKY WAY

Väritin vielä käsin linopiirroslinnun kuvan oikeassa yläreunassa - punaisella. Nyt tämä linnunrata olkoon valmis. Alaosa on kaksi ylintä linopiirrosta neliosaisestaTornien taisto-kuvasta. Lino/pastellin koko on 50 x 60 cm.

Annoin tälle nimen Juicen laulun "Laulu vain"  sanoista:

Ja laulu, se lensi maailmaan

se lensi, siivillä omillaan

I still coloured by hand the linocut bird on the right upper corner of the picture - red. Let this Milky Way be ready now. The bottom part is two linocuts of the bigger four-part linocut Battle Of the Towers. And there are really towers: from Pispala shot tower to Pyynikki observation tower, even the already demolished old jumping hill Hoppa with its control tower. The sky with the Milky Way with the stars is a pastel drawing. This was fun to make, and it was done about the same time when there were pictures from the outer space from a new telescope. The size of this linocut & pastel is 50 x 60 cm. I named this one after Juice´s lyrics from a song Laulu vain (Only Song):

And the song, it flew to the world

it flew, with its own wings

LINNUNRATA JA LINTU / MILKY WAY & BIRD

Pastellitaivaalle linnunradasta ilmestyi linopiirroslintu. Taidan vielä värittää tämän linnun siivet. Jatkuu...

A linocut bird appeared in the pastel sky of the MIlky Way. I think I will still colour the wings of the bird. Continuing...

LINNUNRATA JA TÄHTIÄ / MILKY WAY & STARS

Mitä on linnunrata ilman satoja tähtiä. Lisäsinkin tähtiä pastellitaivaalleni pehmeillä pastelleilla ja pastellikynillä. Isoja ja pienempiä, nyt niitä riittää. Jatkuu...

What is a Milky Way without stars. So I added stars in my pastel sky with soft pastel and pastel pens. Big and smaller, now there seems to be enough. Continuing...

LINNUNRATA - aloitusta / MILKY WAY - Beginning

Vedostin rinnakkain kaksi Pispalan harjun yläosaa Tornien taisto-linopiirroksesta. Jatkuu...

I printed side by side two upper parts of my linocut of Battle Of  the Towers. And here really are some towers: from Pispala shot tower to Pyynikki observation tower. There is enough space in sky even for a Milky Way and a bird. I started to sketch the Milky Way from lighter hues with soft pastels, and then there will be blue and violet shades. Continuing....
