TAYLOR WESSING PHOTOGRAPHIC PRIZE 2018 - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

National Portrait Galleryssa Lontoossa on melkein aina menossa joku muotokuva-aiheinen kilpailu. Nyt näin Taylor Wessingin valokuvakilpailun 2018 (Taylor Wessing Photographic Prize 2018). Yhdelläkään valokuvatulla henkilöllä ei näkynyt hymyä tai iloista ilmettä kasvoillaan. Muotokuvien yleisilme oli synkkä tai vakava, mietiskelevä. Muutama kuva kiinnosti oikeastaan kuvatun henkilön takia. Katherine Hamnettilla oli yllään suuri Brexitiä vastustava t-paitansa ja Joan Jones poseerasi naamio kasvoillaan. Elämme synkkiä aikoja - ainakin näiden muotokuvien perusteella.

At The National Portrait Gallery in London  there is almost always on some kind of competition of portraits. Now I saw Taylor Wessing Photographic Prize 2018 competition. Not one of the pictured people had a smile or a happy impression on his/her face. The overall appearance in this exhibition was gloomy or serious, contemplative. Some of the photos were interesting actually because of the person photographed. Katherine Hamnett was wearing her large t-shirt with a message against Brexit and Joan Jones was posing with a mask over her face. We are living in dark times - at least based on these photos.
