The Photographers' Gallery on aina ohjelmassa kun käy Lontoossa, sillä siellä on usein useita mielenkiintoisia näyttelyjä samaan aikaan. Nyt galleriaa täytti kaksi kovin miehistä näyttelyä. Terence Donovanin (1936-1996) muoti- ja muotokuvat olivat kaunista katsottavaa. Varsinkin mustavalkoiset muotokuvat vakuuttivat, samoin Lontoo-näkymät. Donovan tuntui saaneen kuvattaviinsa läheisen ja luottamuksellisen suhteen ja sitä kautta kuviin aidon ja kohteen luonnetta korostavan ilmeen. Toinen näyttely oli nimetty osuvasti "Dandyism and Black Masculinity". Nämä kuvat olivat villejä, niissä vaatetus ja henkilön imago olivat liioiteltuja. Niissä haettiin rajoja mustan miehen identiteetille. Osa kuvista näyttivät melkein enemmän maalauksilta kuin valokuvilta.

The Photographers' Gallery is always in the program when visiting London, because there are often several interesting photograph exhibitions at the same time. Now the gallery was filled with two very manly exhibitions.  Terence Donovan's (1936-1996) fashion and portrait pictures were a beautiful ensemble. In particular the black and white portraits were effective, and so were also scenes of London. Donovan seemed to have developed an intimate and trusting relationship with his models and that way a genuine and for the subjects very true

expression. The other exhibition was called "Dandyism and Black Masculinity". These photos were wild, in them the clothing and imago of the subjects were exaggerated, searching the limits for the black man's identity. Some of the pictures were almost more like paintings than photographs.
