GEORGIA O'KEEFFE - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Georgia O'Keeffen (1887-1986) näyttely Lontoon Tate Modernissa on loistava! Näyttely ei todellakaan keskity O'Keeffen eroottisina pidettyihin kukkakuviin, vaan hänen koko uraansa. O'Keeffe itse ei korostanut näiden suosittujen kukkamaalausten symboliikkaa vaginoihin, ja oli jopa hiukan närkästynyt kun hänen kumppaninsa Alfred Stieglitz korosti maalausten eroottisuutta tavoiteellessaan kaupallista menestystä. Näyttely on kronologinen, varhaisista koloristisista ja abstraktisista maalauksista, New Yorkin pilvenpiirtäjistä, kukkakuvista, New Mexicon maisemista ja eläinten pääkalloista alkuperäiskansojen kachina-nukkien kautta viimeisimpiin abstrakteihin taivaanrantoihin. Täydellinen ja rehellinen kuva täydellisen ja hienon naisen koko urasta! Pilvenpiirtäjän pyöreä keltainen ikkuna loistaa pimeässä illassa kuin suuri silmä. New Mexicon valtavat vaaleanpunaiset rinteet ovat meheviä kuin raaka liha. Taivaanranta kaikkoaa etäisyyteen kuin lentokoneesta nähtynä.

Tate Modernin uusi sivurakennus Switchissä on heino näköalatasanne, valtavia käytävätiloja ja osallistavaa taidetta. Siellä voi väsynyt taidematkaaja leputtaa jalkojaan jopa taideteoksen sisällä.

Georgia O'Keeffe's (1887-1986) exhibition in Tate Modern in London is brilliant! This exhibition does really not concentrate only on her flower paintings seen erotic, but her whole career. O'Keeffe herself didn't underline her famous flower paintings as vaginal symbols, and she was even somewhat upset when her partner Alfred Stieglitz emphasized the erotic image of her painting in order to get financial success. The exhibition is chronological, from the early colorist, abstract paintings, New York skyscrapers, flower pictures, New Mexico landscapes and animal skulls via Native American kachina dolls to the last abstract skyscapes. A perfect and honest perspective to the whole life of a perfect and brave woman! A round yellow window of a skyscraper glows in the dark night like a large eye. The pink hills of New Mexico are succulent like some raw meat. The skyscape is vanishing to the eternity like seen from a plane.

In Tate Modern's new Switch extension there is a fabulous observation deck, vast stairs and foyers, and art encouraging to participate. The weary art traveler can rest her feet even inside an art work.
