RUUHKAA RULLAKIOSKILLA / CONGESTION AT THE ROUND KIOSK

Olihan taas nurmikkojyrälle käyttöä! Vedostettiin kesämökillä kovalla lattialla nurmikkojyrää ja muitakin välineitä (Sláma Press ja kaulin) käyttäen 80 x 60 cm kahdeksasta palasesta koottu linopiirros. Nyt mukana on yhtenä osana rullakioski, jonka väritin käsin linon kuivuttua. Kioskilla on ruuhkaa, kissat parveilevat sen ympärillä herkkuja haistellen. Tämä iso linopiirros on nyt Iittalassa toivon mukaan Naivistit Iittalassa- kesänäyttelyyn menossa - tai sitten se ei mahdu seinälle. Saa nähdä!

My garden roller was working again! We printed this eight piece 80 x 60 cm linocut at the summer cottage on a hard floor using the garden roller and other equipment (Sláma Press and rolling pin). Now there is the round kioski as one piece, and I coloured the kiosk by hand when the lino was dry. There is a congestion at the round kiosk, carts are circling around smelling some treats. This large linocut is now in Iittala - I´m hoping that it will be at Naïve Artists in Iittala exhibition next summer - or then it will not fit on the walls. Remains to be seen!

ISO RULLAKIOSKI / BIG ROUND KIOSK

Tein A4-kokoisen linopiirroksen rullakioskista. Ajattelen nyt yhdistää sen osaksi isompaa linopiirrosta Pispalasta. Tässä Pispalan kuvassa on kahdeksan A4-kokoista palaa, joista yhden nyt korvaan rullakioskilla. Oikealla reunalla kulkevat Pispalan portaat kohti harjun korkeinta kohtaa. Vasemmalle puolelle tulee rullakioski, jossa Pispalan kissat kokoontuvat rupattelemaan ja vaihtamaan ajatuksiaan, ehkä ostamaan myös kupin kermaa.

I made an A4 linocut of a round kiosk. I´m now trying to combine this lino to my larger picture of Pispala. This large picture has eight A4-sized parts, and I am now replacing one of them with this round kiosk. On the right side of the picture are running the Pispala steps towards the highest spot of the ridge. The round kiosk will be on the left side, and the Pispala cats are meeting there for a chat or exchanging ideas, perhaps even buying a cup of cream.

RULLAKIOSKILLA / AT THE ROUND KIOSK

Rullakioski on väritetty käsin tässä linopiirroksessa, jotta se erottuisi paremmin taustastaan. Kioskin takana on Pispalan taloja ja pulteriaitaa, edessä on joukko kissoja ja penkki. Kioski mainostaa makkaraan, kahvia ja teetä. Tällaisia kioskeja oli 1950-luvulla useita. Nyt Tampereella taitaa olla enää yksi aseman edessä, ehkä myös Viinikassa. Linopiirroksen koko on 20 x 30 cm.

This linocut of a round kiosk is hand coloured, so that it would be more separated from the background. Behind the kiosk there are Pispala houses and stone wall, in front of kiosk there are some cats and a bench. The kiosk is advertising sausage, coffee and tea. These kind of kiosks were common in the 1950´s. Now there is perhaps only one left in Tampere in front of the railway station, and maybe there is one in Viinikka. The size of the linocut is 20 x 30 cm.

Rullakioski keskellä Pispalaa? En ole ollenkaan varma, onko Pispalassa koskaan edes ollut tällaista pyöreää kioskia. Tässä se nyt kuitenkin on pulteriaidan ympäröimänä. Näitä tekstejä oli haasteellista mutta hauskaa kaivertaa, sillä kirjaimet ovat kaiverrettuna peilikuvana. S- ja N-kirjaimet ovat vaikeimmat. Kioskin edessä on joukko nälkäisiä kissoja ja penkki.

A round kiosk in the middle of Pispala? I´m not at all sure if there even has ever been this kind of round kiosk in Pispala. Well, here it now is surrounded by a wall of round stones. These texts are a bit challenging but fun to carve, because the letters are as a mirror image when carved. S and N letter are the most difficult. There is a group of hungry cats and a bench in front of the kiosk.
