KESÄ / SUMMER

Linopiirroksen Pispalan rinteestä vedostin jo ennen kuin kaaduin ja mursin olkapääni. Nyt tuntuu ihan mahtavalta kun pystyi värittämään yläkulmassa vasemmalla olevan Pispalan haulitornin ihan itse oikealla kädellä. Olkapään venytyksiä ja harjoitteita pitäisi vaan tehdä, lääkärin määräyksestä, 30 kertaa päivässä! Joopa joo, puhelimeen pitää tehdä muistutus.

Tämä on ehkä eniten ykstyiskohtia sisältävä linopiirrokseni Pispalasta, ja aika isokin, 30 x 40 cm. Seuraavaksi aion yhdistää tämän linopiirrokseen Tahmelan rannan kynäjalavasta. alkua siihen on olemassa jo ajalta ennen murtumaa.

I printed this linocut from the Pispala ridge already before I fell and fractured my shoulder. Now it feels really great, marvellous when I was able to color the Pispala shot tower in the upper left corner with my right hand. Shoulder stretches and exercises should be done, as prescribed by the doctor, 30 times a day! Yes, yes, you have to set a reminder on the phone.

This is perhaps my linocut of Pispala with the most details, and quite big too, 30 x 40 cm. Next, I'm going to combine this with a linocut from the elm elm on Tahmela beach. the beginning of it already exists from the time before the fracture.

 

KESÄ / SUMMER

Linopiirros Pispalan harjusta "Kesä jatkuu" eli kynäjalava -linopiirroksen kaveriksi on vedostettu. Olisiko tämän nimi vain "Kesä". Taivasta voisi ehkä vielä vaalentaa eli kaivertaa lisää linoa pois, jotta rinne erottuisi paremmin. Ja haulitorni vasemmassa ylälaidassa pitää värittää punaiseksi. Muuten tämä 30 x 40 cm linopiirros vastaa aika hyvin sitä, mikä oli mielessäni, oikeastaan koko kesän ajan.

The linocut from Pispala's ridge is now printed as a friend to the earlier linocut "Summer Continues" or elm linocut. This one might be called just "Summer". The sky could perhaps be lightened, i.e. cut off more lino, so that the ridge stands out better. And the Pispala shot tower on the upper left corner should be colored red. Otherwise, this 30 x 40 cm linocut corresponds quite well to what I had in mind, actually through the whole summer.

PISPALAN RINNE - LINO KAIVERRETTU / PISPALA RIDGE - LINO IS CARVED

Linopiirros Pispalan rinteestä on kaiverrettu. Ja olihan siinä näpräämistä, kymmeniä taloja, parit portaat, vene, puita ja vettä. tämä on japanilaista vinyyliä, 30 x 40 cm, ihanteellinen materiaali pienten, tarkkojen yksityiskohtien kaivertamiseen, ei murene.

Ehdin vedostaa tämän linopiirroksen paperille sekä aloitella isomman kahden tällaisen Pispala-linon vedostusta yhdeksi isommaksi kuvaksi (tämä rinne + kynäjalava), mutta sitten kaaduin olkapäälleni Tahmelan omenatarhan polulla kymmenisen päivää sitten. Oikea käsi on nyt kantositeessä, sillä olkavarressa on murtuma. Ainut ilo tässä taitaa olla, että olkapäätä ei tarvitse leikata. Mutta käden saaminen toimintakuntoon (olen oikeakätinen) tulee viemään aikaa. Nyt olen vasta puristellut vanhaa Saddam-stressilelua. Kuvataiteilijallehan käden toiminta on välttämätöntä, ja kun sen menettää vaikka vain väliaikaisesti, se on iso psyykkinenkin mullistus. Kyky innostua, kokea luovuutta ja ehkä onnistumisen ilokin katoaa, sopeutuminen tilanteeseen ei ole helppoa. Tekstin tekijä voi ehkä tuottaa tekstiä puhumisen avulla, ja laulaja voi laulaa, mutta linon kaivertaminen, värin levittäminen tai kuvan vedostaminen tuntuvat nyt ihan ylellisyydeltä. Blogitekstin naputtelee hitaasti vasemmallakin kädellä, ja Googlen kääntäjä (AI ?) muuttaa tekstin englanniksi käden käänteessä Jatkan siis blogia omaksi ilokseni postailemalla keskeneräisiä töitä tai muuta mieleen tulevaa. I had time to print this linocut on paper and start combining two of these Pispala linos into one bigger picture (this ridge + elm), but then I fell on my shoulder on the path of the Tahmela apple orchard ten days ago. The right arm is now in a sling, as there is a fracture in the upper arm. The only joy here seems to be that the shoulder does not have to be operated. But getting my hand in working condition (I'm right-handed) will take time. Now I've just squeezed the old rubber Saddam stress toy. After all, for a visual artist, the function of the hand is essential, and when you lose it, even temporarily, it's a big psychological upheaval. The ability to get excited, experience creativity and maybe even the joy of success disappears, adapting to the situation is not easy. The author of the text may be able to produce the text by speaking, and the singer can sing, but carving a lino, spreading color or printing a picture now seems like a luxury. I tap the blog text slowly with my left hand, and the Google translator (AI ?) changes the text to English in the blink of an eye. Stay upright and enjoy autumn!

PISPALAN RINNE - kaiverrusta / PISPALA RIDGE - Carving

 

Vähitellen talot alkavat näkyä kaiverrettuina tässä linopiirroksessa Pispalan rinteestä. Eteenpäin vaan, talo kerrallaan. Rannassa halusin tehdä santaa ja käytin pienten reikien tekoon vasaraa ja naulaa. Linnut lähipuissa ihmettelivät sitä nakutusta.

Little by little, the houses start to appear carved in this linocut from the Pispala ridge. Going ahead, one house at a time. On the beach, I wanted to make sand and I used a hammer and a nail to make small holes. The birds in the nearby trees marveled at that pecking.

 

PISPALAN RINNE -luonnos / PISPALA RIDGE - Sketch

 

Kynäjalavan pariksi on nyt tulossa linopiirros Pispalan rinteestä. Jos oli kynäjalava täynnä pieniä oksia, yksityiskohtia, niin onhan sama ihan sama asia tämän linopiirroksen kanssa. Kuvassa on niin paljon taloja ja ykstyiskohtia, että minun piti tehdä tussilla luonnos suoraan linolevylle. Taloja on kymmeniä, kahdet puuportaat, kasvimaata, pari venettä rannassa ja iso urakka kaivertamista edessä. Hommiin vaan!

A linocut of the Pispala ridge will now be paired with the linocut of the elm. If there was the elm full of small branches, details, then it's the same exact thing with this linocut. There are so many houses and details in the picture that I had to make a sketch directly on the lino with a marker. PISPALAN HARJU / PISPALA RIDGE

Tämä aika iso (40 X 60 cm) linoleikkaus on jo toinen, johon tänä kesänä tarvitsin nurmikkojyrää. Ilman kunnon painoa tätä on käsin aika vaikea vedostaa. Pispalan harjua ei ihan tällaisena oikeasti näe, samalla kertaa kaikkea Pispalan haulitornista Pyynikin näkötorniin. Kuvan inspiraationa oli viime talven kävely Näsijärven jäällä, josta harjun näki kauempaa kuin kävelylenkillä Tahmelan rannassa. Näkymä jäi mieleeni ja muuttui kesäiseksi: veneitä rannassa, kasvimaan pienet palstat vierekkäin täynnä kasveja ja puutarhatyökaluja, tietenkin Pispalan portaat, vanhat puutalot rinteessä ja jopa järven yllä nähty kotka.

This quite large (40 X 60 cm) linocut was already the second, which required this summer the use of my garden roller. Without decent weight this kind of lino is rather difficult to print by hand. You can not see the Pispala ridge for real just like this picture, at one glance all from the Pispala shot tower to the Pyynikki observation tower. The inspiration for this linocut was a walk on the Näsijärvi ice last winter. From the ice you could see the Pispala Ridge from farther off than just walking on the Tahmela shore. The perspective stayed in my mind and changed into a summery view: boat on the shore, the small allotment on the vegetable fields side by side full of plants and garden tools, of course the Pispala steps, old wooden houses along the slope, and even an eagle seen over the lake.

KANAHAUKKA / GOSHAWK

Tein erillisen linoleikkauksen, jonka voisin lisätä  Pispalan harjulta - linoleikkaukseen - kanahaukan. Ehkä tämä iso haukka kaipaisi ympärilleen muutaman pienemmän linnun. Pispalan harjulla haukkoja pakoon lentää ainakin rastaita ja harakoita.

I made a separate linocut, which I could add to my linocut of Pispala ridge - a goshawk. Perhaps this big hawk would require some smaller bids around it. Over Pispala ridge at least thrushes and magpies fly away when they see a goshawk.

PISPALAN HARJULTA: osa 8 / PISPALA RIDGE: Part Eight

Kokeilin vielä yhtä versiota tehdä taivas Pispalan harjulta -linoleikkaukseeni tökkimällä sienellä sinistä ja hiukan keltaista akryyliväriä. Hyönteiset ja perhoset ovat erillisiä pieniä linoleikkauksia, jotka vedostin taivaan päälle. Tästä tuli aika kesäinen kuva.

I tested still one version to make the sky for my linocut of Pispala Ridge by sponging blue and yellow acrylic colour. The insects and butterflies are separate small linocuts and I pulled them on the coloured sky. This is quite a summery picture now.

PISPALAN HARJULTA: osa 7 / PISPALA RIDGE: Part Seven

Kokeilin tällä kertaa Pispalan harjulta linoleikkaukseeni sinipunertavan taivaan tekoa akryylivärillä ja sienellä tököttämällä ennen hyönteisten ja perhosten vedostamista. Aurinko on vedostettu oranssin värisenä. Maisema vaikuttaa melkein öiseltä.

This time I tested to make the purplish sky on my linocut of Pispala Ridge by poking with a sponge before printing the insects and butterflies. The sun is pulled with orange ink. The scene looks almost like at night. 

PISPALAN HARJULTA: Osa 6 / PISPALA RIDGE: Part Six

Testailin vielä yhden Pispalan harjulta -linoleikkauksen taivasta sinisenä paksulla siveltimellä vedettynä. Lisäsin kuun tai auringon ja joukon perhosia ja hyönteisiä.

I tested still one Pispala Ridge linocut with a blue sky painted with a broad brush. I added a sun or moon and some butterflies and insects.

Kokeilua, kokeilua Pispalan harjulta -linoleikkauksen kanssa. Nyt maalasin leveällä siveltimellä taivaan siniseksi ennen kuin vedostin kuvaan erillisiä linoleikkauksia perhosista ja hyönteisistä.

PISPALAN HARJULTA: Osa neljä / PISPALA RIDGE: Part Four

Pispalan harjulta -linoleikkaukseen mahtui aurinko tai kuu sekä muutama perhonen ja hyönteinen. Ne ovat erillisiä pienempiä  linoleikkauksia.

There was space for a sun or moon and couple of butterflies and insects in my Pispala Ridge linocut. They are separate smaller linocuts.

PISPALAN HARJULTA: Osa 3 / PISPALA RIDGE: Part Three

Pispalan harjun päällä taivas on korkealla. Kokeilin maalata leveällä siveltimellä akryylivärillä taivaalle hiukan sinipunaisen viivan alareunan linoleikkauksen yläpuolelle. Jätin paikat parille isolle perhoselle valkoisiksi. Tämä taivas laittaa mielikuvituksen liikkeelle, siellähän voi oikeastaan olla mitä vaan.

The sky above Pispala ridge is high. I tested to paint with a broad brush and acrylic colour a somewhat purple line on the sky above the linocut. I left a few places white for some bigger butterflies. This sky puts my imagination into circulation, there could be just anything on the sky.

PISPALAN HARJULTA: Osa 2 / PISPALA RIDGE: Part Two

Linoleikkauksessa Pispalan harjulta oli oikeassa reunassa tyhjä kolo kissalle. Lisäsin siihen erillisen linoleikkauksen mustasta kissasta, joka katsoo selkänsä taakse. 

In my linocut of Pispala Ridge there was an empty space on the right side of the picture. I added there a separate linocut of a black cat, who is peeking behind it´s back.

PISPALAN HARJULTA: Osa 1 / PISPALA RIDGE: Part One

Tein viime kesän aikana ison määrän pieniä linoleikkauksia perhosista ja hyönteisistä. Nyt ne putkahtelevat mieleen ja niiden yhdisteleminen saa mielikuvituksen liikkeelle. Teinkin uuden linoleikkauksen näkymästä Pispalan harjun laelta Pyhäjärvelle ja vedostin kuvan paperin alareunaan. Taivaan voisi täyttää perhosilla ja hyönteisillä ja ehkä jollain värilläkin. 

During last summer I made quite a number of small linocuts of butterflies and insects. Now they are popping into my mind and combining them gets my imagination going. So I made a new linocut of the view from Pispala ridge to the lake Näsijärvi and I pulled the picture at the bottom of a paper. I could fill the sky with butterflies and insects and perhaps there could be even some colour.
