PUUVEISTOKSIA MOOTTORISAHALLA / WOODEN CHAINSAW SCULPTURES

Mökillä pyörälenkin varrella olen ihaillut uutta puuveistosta tien varressa. Veistos näytti keskiaikaiselta munkilta, ja se liittyikin lähellä tehtyihin vanhan kirkon kaivauksiin. Nyt selvisi tekijäkin. Tämän Birgitan henki-nimisen veistoksen on tehnyt moottorisahalla lähistöllä asuva J-P eli Jukka-Pekka Kiiskinen. Pyörälenkki kulkee hänen kotinsa ohi, ja siellä on enemmänkin hänen puuveistoksiaan. Yksi iso teos on pihalla vielä kesken. Jännittävä nähdä, mitä siitä kesän mittaan tulee. J-P:n teokset eivät ole niitä tavanomaisia karhuja, joita moottorisahalla yleensä tehdään.

On my cycle route at the summer cottage I have admired a new wooden sculpture by the road. The sculpture reminded me about a Medieval monk, and it had something to do with the excavations of and old church nearby. Now I know also the maker.  This sculpture called Birgitta´s Spirit was done with a chainsaw by a local maker J-P i.e. Jukka-Pekka Kiiskinen. My cycle route goes by his home, and there are more wooden sculptures. A bigger one on the yard is still under work. It is exciting to see, how it will change during the summer. J-P´s works are not the usual bears that chainsaw artists are often making.
