Aina on yhtä yllättävää nähdä ihailemiaan töitä luonnollisessa koossa: Henri Rousseaun ja Georges Seuratin maalaukset olivat paljon suurempia kuin olin kuvitellut.

It was really thrilling to see the real Keitele painting by Akseli Gallen-Kallela at The National gallery. The painting was smaller than I thought, only one meter wide. But the play of grays and whites on the surface of the lake was glorious. The National gallery is going to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Finland in November hanging on the walls of the museum all four different version of Keitele by Gallen-Kallela: two more from Finland and one from Spain. I already made earlier a version of my Finland100-themed linocut of a Cat Who Dreamed He Was an Artist.
It is always surprising to see your favorite paintings live: Henri Rousseau's and Geaorges Seurat's paintings were much more larger than I had thought.
