KAKSI PERHOSTA / TWO BUTTERFLIES

 Kaksi hiukan erilaista perhosta samasta linopiirroksesta. Toisen perhosen taustalla monotypia on aika tumman punainen, uhkaava taivas. Väri on niin voimakas, etten värittänyt perhosen siipiä. Toisessa monotypia on vaalea taivas, väritinkin siis siivet käsin ja lisäsin muutaman pienen linolinnun perhosen seuraksi. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

Two slightly different butterflies from the same linocut. The monotype in the background of the second butterfly is a rather dark red, threatening sky. The color is so strong that I didn't color the butterfly's wings. The second monotype has a light sky, so I colored the wings by hand and added a few small lino birds to accompany the butterfly. The size of the picture is 15 x 15 cm.

PIENI PERHONEN / SMALL BUTTERFLY

 Sarjaan pieniä linopiirroksia monoprintillä tuli lisää pari pientä perhosta. Siivet on väritetty käsin. Näiden kuvien koko on vain 9 x 9 cm.

A couple of small butterflies were added to the series of small linocuts with monoprint. The wings are colored by hand. The size of these pictures is only 9 x 9 cm.

YÖKKÖNEN / MOTH

Yksi perhonen sarjaani pieniä (9 x 9 cm) linopiirroksia monoprintillä. Yökkösen takasiivet on väritetty punaisiksi. Onkohan se joku pelotusväri? Ja näkyykö se yöllä?

One butterfly in my series of small (9 x 9 cm) linocuts with monoprint. The hind wings of the moth are colored red. Is it some scary color? And is it visible at night?

VIIRU JA KESÄTAIVAS / VIIRU AND SUMMER SKY

 

Viiru-kissan, perhosten ja auringon taakse tulikin aika vaaleansininen kesätaivas. Mutta taivaanrannalla väijyy tumma pilvi. Taivas on pehmeää Pan-pastellia ja Viiru, aurinko sekä linnut linopiirroksia.

Well, there popped up a quite light blue summer sky behind Viiru the cat, sun and butterflies.But there is lurking a dark cloud on the horizon. The sky was made with soft Pan pastels and Viiru, sun and butterflies are linocuts.

VIIRU JA AURINKO / VIIRU AND SUN

 Aloittelen uutta pastellitaivasta linopiirrosten kanssa: Viiru-kissan, uusien perhosten ja auringon. Tässä kuvassa linot ovat  kaiverrettu puoli ylöspäin eli oikeastaan "väärin päin", sillä nehän vedostetaan painamalla linot paperille. Mutta näin saa ehkä paremman kuvan siitä, mitä kuvittelee kuvasta tulevan.

I´m starting a new pastel sky with linocuts: Viiru the cat, new butterflies and the sun. In this picture the linos are the carved side up ie. actually wrong side up, because they will be printed by pressing the linos on the paper. But perhaps you get maybe better picture of what you imagine the final picture to be.

YÖKKÖNEN JA LINTU / MOTH & BIRD

 Uusia taivaita kohti! Tein myös yöperhosen, yökkösen, pienen linopiirroksen tai leimasimen. Väritin tämän yökkösen alasiivet kirkkaan punaisiksi. Linon koko on 7 x 11 cm. Samalla syntyi uusi pieni lentävä lintu, linopiirros, taidan jättää mustavalkoiseksi, 10 x 10 cm.

Towards new skies! I made also a night butterfly, moth, small linocut or stamps. I coloured the lower wings of this moth bright red. The size of the lino is 7 x 11 cm. At the same time I carved also a small flying bird, linocut, I might leave this black and white, 10 x 10 cm.

KUPARIKUU JÄRVELLÄ / COPPER MOON BY THE LAKE

 

Vedostin pronssivärillä linopiirroksen kuusta taivaalle Pyhäjärveä (ehkä) kuvaavan linopiirroksen ylle. Väritin järvessä olevan kuun kuvajaisen kellertäväksi pastellivärillä. Muutamasta perhoslinosta tein sapluunat ja vähän jo asettelin niitä taivaalle. Tämä tulee olemaan osa pienemmän kokoista sarjaani lino/pastelleista; 50 x 30 cm.

I printed a linocut of the moon with bronze colour in the sky over a linocut depicting Pyhäjärvi (probaply). I coloured the reflection of the moon on the lake yellow by hand with pastels. I also made stencils of a couple of linocuts of butterflies, and I already placed them in the sky. This work will be one of the series of smaller lino & pastels,, 50 x 30 cm.
