SIIVELLINEN KUNPA OLISIN / WINGED IF ONLY I WERE

 

No, tulihan taivaalle aika paljon pastellipilviä, hiukan uhkaavan violettiakin. Mutta perhoskissojen siivet ovat värikkäät ja iloiset. Taivaanrannassa lentää parvi pieniä lintuja, pääskysiä ehkä. Aurinko sai säteet ympärilleen. Ja yläreunan heleä sini lupaa ehkä huomiselle poutaa. Tämä kuva sai nimensä Lauri Viidan runosta Kaksi tietä ja nimi on "Siivellinen kunpa olisin". Kuva on aika iso: 70 x 40 cm.

Well, there came quite a lot of pastel clouds in the sky, a little threatening purple too. But butterfly cats' wings are colorful and happy. A flock of small birds, maybe swallows, flies in the sky. The sun got its rays around. And the bright blue of the upper edge perhaps promises tomorrow's fine weather. This picture got its name from Lauri Viita's poem Kaksi tietä / Two roads and the name is "Winged If Only I Were / Siivellinen kunpa olisin". The picture is quite large: 70 x 40 cm.

PASTELLIA TAIVAALLE / PASTEL INTO THE SKY

 

Lentävien kissojen ja keltaisen auringon takana pitää tietenkin olla kesä ja sinistä taivasta. Mutta enhän varmaankaan voi vastustaa lisäämästä hiukan punertavia pilviä taivaalle. Saa nähdä, mitä tästä pastellitaivaasta oikein tulee? Ja perhoskissojen siivet aion värittää.

Behind the flying cats and the yellow sun, there must of course be summer and blue skies. But I guess I can't resist adding some reddish clouds to the sky. Let's see what will become of this pastel sky? And I will colour the wings of the butterfly cats.

NELJÄ KISSAA TAIVAALLE / FOUR CATS INTO THE SKY

 Neljä lentävää kissaa ilmestyi taivaalle auringon ympärille. Kaksi näyttää perhoskissoilta ja kaksi enemmän enkeleiltä. Yhdellä on sylissään pieni kissa, yhdellä viulu. Kaikki tässä vaiheessa on vielä linopiirroksia. Seuraavaksi pastelliväriä taivaalle.

Four flying cats appeared in the sky around the sun. Two look like butterfly cats and two look more like angels. One is holding a small cat, one is holding a violin. Everything at this stage is still linocuts. Next, pastel color for the sky.

SEITSEMÄN PERHOSKISSAA / SEVEN BUTTERFLY CATS

Kesän aikana kesämökillä syntyivät nämä seitsemän sekatekniikkatyötä, joissa kaikissa lentelee perhoskissoja tai enkelikissoja. Kissat ovat linopiirroksia. Samoin linopiirroksia ovat kuut ja aurinko, kuumailmapallo sekä kuvien alareunan maisemat, kissat, usein Pispalaa, Pyhäjärveä tai Pyynikkiä. Taivaat ja pilvet tein pehmeillä pastelliväreillä. Kaikkien pienempien (50 x 30 cm) töiden innoittajana oli Lauri Viidan runo Alfhild Pispalasta ja hänen äidistään. Enkä nyt ole yhtään varma, vaikka tämä sarja vielä jatkuisi. Näitä linopalasia on niin hauska yhdistellä uuteen kokonaisuuteen ja lisätä ihan eri näköinen taivas.

 During the summer, these seven mixed media works were created at the summer cottage, all of which have butterfly cats or angel cats flying around. The cats are linocuts. Similarly, linocuts are also the moon and the sun, hot air balloon as well as the landscapes at the bottom of the pictures, cats, often Pispala, Pyhäjärvi or Pyynikki. I made the skies and clouds with soft pastel colors. All the smaller works (50 x 30 cm) were inspired by Lauri Viita's poem Alfhild about Pispala and his mother. And now I'm not at all sure, even if this series will continue. These lino pieces are so fun to combine into a new whole picture and add a completely different looking sky.

ASTU VAROVASTI / TREAD CAREFULLY

 

Neljä lentävää kissaa pääsi vielä tähän Lauri Viidan Alfhild-runon  innoittamaan sekatekniikkatyöhön. Tämä on isohko: 70 x 40 cm. Keltainen kuu ja osaksi väritetyt kissat ovat linopiirroksia. samoin kuin alaosan maisema Pispalasta portaineen ja puutaloineen. Aika dramaattinen pastellitaivas, vai mitä? Ja mielessä runon säe: "Ettemme loukkaisi Pispalan kivissä jalkaamme kukaan".

Four flying cats made it to this mixed media work inspired by Lauri Viita's Alfhild poem. This is large: 70 x 40 cm. The yellow moon and partially colored cats are linocuts. as well as the landscape of the lower part of Pispala with its stairs and wooden houses. Pretty dramatic pastel sky, huh? And the verse of the poem in mind: "So That No One Would Hurt Their Feet In the Stones of Pispala".

NELJÄ PERHOSKISSAA / FOUR BUTTERFLY CATS

 

Kaikki neljä uutta perhoskissaani lentävät tämän isomman kokoisen, 70 x 40 cm) sekatekniikkatyön taivaalle. Tein sapluunat linopiirroksille perhoskissosita ja jätin niiden avulla pastellitaivaalle vaaleat paikat vedostamista varten. Keltainen kuu samoin kuin alaosan Pispala-näkymä ovat linopiirroksia.

All four of my new butterfly cats fly into the sky of this larger (70 x 40 cm) mixed media work. I made the stencils for the linocuts of butterfly cats and used them to leave light spots in the pastel sky for printing. The yellow moon as well as the Pispala view in the lower part are linocuts.
