Kissakortti: 368 / Cat Card: 368

Alkuperäinen painokuva tähän kissakorttiin on vuodelta 1885. Rakeinen painojälki on  hyvin näkyvissä, kuin pieniä väripisteitä. Tällaisia herttaisia asetelmia kutsuttiin suklaarasiakuviksi, ja niitä näki erilaisten rasioiden tai pakkausten kansissa. Kuvassa kissanpoikanen katselee ruokakuppiaan, jonka yllä lentää sudenkorento. Yläreunassa aidan yli kurkkii kaksi koiranpentua. Ne ovat enemmän kiinnostuneet kissasta kuin korennosta. Hahmojen asettelu on aika erikoinen kun kuvan keskiosa on kokonaan valkoinen. Tähän on ehkä ollut tarkoitus lisätä tervehdys kun kortti postitetaan.

The original print for this card is from the year 1885. The grainy printing is clearly visible, like tiny colour dots. Cute compositions like this were called chocolate-box paintings, and they were used on the covers of boxes or packages. In this picture a kitten is watching at her food bowl and a dragonfly flying over it. At the top there are two puppies peeking over a fence. They are more interested in the cat than the dragonfly. The layout of the picture is quite peculiar when the middle part of the picture is totally white. Maybe is was ment that you write your greetings here when posting the card.
