TANELI ESKOLA - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Taneli Eskolan (s. 1958) valokuvanäyttely galleria Nykyajassa on todella kaunis. Mustavalkoiset kuvat ovat harmonisia ja sävykkäitä. Niissä on paljon varjoja, heijastuksia, perspektiivejä ja hienoja rajauksia. On ällistyttävää, miten Eskola on voinut osua kohdalle juuri silloin kun kohteet ovat oikeassa kulmassa, ilme on täydellinen ja yksityiskohdat ovat kohdillaan. Näitä kuvia ei ole voinut lavastaa tai harjoitella. Onko kuvaaja kulkenut ympäriinsä kamera valmiina ja napsinut tuhansia kuvia, joista helmet sitten erottuvat. Mieleen tulee tietenkin Henry Cartier-Bresson. Yksi värillinen kuva oli mustavalkoisten joukossa, siinäkin muodot ja kuviot on juuri oikein.

Taneli Eskola's (b. 1958) photography exhibition at Gallery Nykyaika in Tampere is really beautiful. Black and white photographs are harmonious and tuneful. There are a lot of shadows, reflections, perspectives and fine croppings. It´s really staggering , how Eskola has just happened to be at the right place and time when the targets have been at the right angle, the expression on a face is perfect and all the details are spot on. These pictures could not have been staged or practiced. Has the photographer walked around with his camera ready and snapped thousands of photos, of which then the diamonds have separated. Henry Cartier-Bresson comes of course on my mind. There is only one colour photo among the black and white ones, also in it the shapes and patterns are just right.
