Royal Academy of Artsin näyttelyssä America after the Fall (Amerikka pörssiromahduksen jälkeen) oli yksi taiteilija ylitse muiden: Grant Wood (1891-1941). Hänen klassinen teoksensa American Gothic oli saatu Lontooseen näytille, mutta muutkin Grantin työt säväyttivät. Erityisesti pidin hänen maalauksestaan, jossa peltomaisemassa voi selvästi nähdä muhkeita muotoja: pullean mahan ja kaarevat rinnat. British Museumin iso näyttely The American Dream (Amerikkalainen unelma) oli kuitenkin vielä kiinnostavampi. Tässä näyttelyssä näki mahtavan kokoelman amerikkalaista grafiikkaa 1960-luvulta nykypäivään. Tietenkin mukana olivat Warholin Marilynit ja sähkötuolit. Jokseenkin kaikki eri tekniikat käytiin läpi, taiturimaisinpina ehkä Jim Dinen (s. 1935) kuivaneula-, akvatinta-, mezzotinta -työt maalipensseleistä. Näyttelyssä oli myös muutama kaunis lino- ja puupiirros: Wayne Thiebaudin (s. 1920) purkkakone ja Richard Bosmanin (1944) Man Overboard (Mies yli laidan). Kiki Smithin (s. 1954) kissa Ginzer sai hymyn huulille.

There was one artist over all the others in Royal Academy of Arts's exhibition America after the Fall: Grant Wood (1891-1941).His classic work American Gothic was borrowed to this exhibition in London from America, but also other paintings by Grant were fetching. Especially I liked his landscape painting where in the shapes of the fields you can clearly see voluminous curves: a plump chest and the curvy breasts. British Museums big exhibition The American Dream was even more interesting. Here you could see an awesome collection of American graphics from the 1960's to the present day. Of course, there were Warhol's electric chairs and Marilyns. Pretty much every technique was presented, perhaps the most masterly were Jim Dine's (b. 1935) drypoint, aquatint, mezzotint works of tools and brushes. In this exhibition I also saw a couple of beautiful woodcuts and linocuts: Wayne Thiebaud's (b. 1920) Gumball Machine and Richard Bosman's (b. 1944) Man Overboard. Kiki Smith's (b. 1954) cat Ginzer but a smile in my lips.
