Tate Modernin Radical Eye -näyttelyn aukioloaikaa oli onneksi pidennetty ja näin tämän hienon kokoelman maailman parhaita mustavalkoisia valokuvia maailman ensimmäisiltä valokuvaustaiteen mestareilta. Oman säväyksensä näyttelyyn toi kokoelman omistajan Sir Elton Johnin mieltymys koristeellisiin puukehyksiin. Mutta kuvat ja kuvaajat saivat haukkomaan henkeä: Man Ray, André Kertész, Irving Penn, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, Aleksander Rodchenko, Lászlõ Moholy-Nagy ja monia muita. Erityisen viehättynyt Elton John tuntui olevan muotokuviin, kokeellisiin ja yhteiskunnallisesti kantaaottaviin valokuviin. Heti ensimmäisessä huoneessa oli Kertészin pienen pieni alkuperäinen kuva Underwater Swimmer (Uimari veden alla), jota piti katsoa todella läheltä jotta näki veden ihanan kimalluksen. Samoin Man Rayn Noire et Blache pysähdytti ja sen jälkeen jokseenkin jokainen kuva täydensi vaikutelman jokseenkin täydellisestä ja henkilökohtaisesta valokuvakokoelmasta.

Luckily the opening time of Tate Modern's exhibition Radical Eye was extended, and I saw this fine collection of world's best black and white photograhps from the world*s first photo artists. The extra tone to this exhibition was its owner Sir Elton John's affection to decorative wooden frames. But the photographers and the photos made you grasp your breath: Man Ray, André Kertész, Irving Penn, Dorothea Lange, Imogen Cunningham, Aleksander Rodchenko, Lászlõ Moholy-Nagy and many others. Elton John seemed to be especially fond of portraits, experimental and social documentary photography. Already in the first room there was Kertész's small original photo Underwater Swimmer, which you had to look at really close to see the wonderful glimmer of the water. Also Man Ray's Noire et Blanche made me stop, and after that practically every picture complemented the impression of just about the perfect and personal collection of photographs.
