Botticelli Reimagined in Victoria & Albert Museum in London is an exciting exhibition. The material is presented in a revised chronological order. At first there are the newest art works, adverts, videos, objects, and fashion, which mostly make use of Botticelli's Venus and Spring themes. Botticelli's paintings' sensual faces and hair flowing wildly in the wind have inspired painters from Andy Warhol (1928-1987) to Yin Xin (s. 1959). René Magritten (1898-1967) has copied Botticelli's Spring figure on the back of a man in his painting. Next the viewer is introduced to the art movement of the 1800's, mainly the Pre-Raphaelites. Botticelli was almost forgotten for 300 years, untill the Pre-Raphaelites found again his slender figures, religious paintings and harmonious colours. Among the Pre-Raphaelites quite many women were inspired by Botticelli. In Eleanor Fortesque-Brickdale's (1871-1945) painting Botticelli in a red hat is meeting women wanting to model perhaps for paintings like Venus or Spring or angels. In the last rooms there are the works of Sandro Botticelli (1445-1510) and his studio and followers. There are a lot of religious subjects for the sake of Botticelli's devotion to Savonarola. Even Jesus has a long blond flowing hair and beautiful, gentle face. The fingers and toes are bending and long. The baby Jesus and Virgin Mary are portrayed mostly affectionately cheek to cheek. The universal self-will of an adolescent has finely depicted in a portrait of a young man.
