***************
Henri Cartier-Bresson's (1908-2004) black and white photographs have become familiar over the years from many illustrations, and they have been sent as postcards to friends. Now you can get a decent understanding of his whole career in a vast exhibition in Ateneum Art Museum in Helsinki. His photographs from the Far East, Mexico, Soviet Union and even England are rarely seen, but the same elements are visible also in them. Usually there is a gorgeous
perspective in he photos: steps, bridges or roads are curving and intertwining. The human beings in the pictures are like on a stage, but still on their own pursuits. The small details in the background are an important part of the photo: different patterns, advertisements, texts, and shades. Cartier-Bressons clause defines finely his patient way to take photos: "I see a composition and wait something to happen".
