TEEMU SAUKKONEN - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Galleria Himmelblaussa on iso joukko Teemu Saukkosen (s. 1954) monotypioita. Kaikissa niissä luuranko liikuttaa jäseniään, kävelee, venyttelee tai tanssii. Ensihämmästyksen jälkeen luurangot eivät ole pelottavia, mutta mitä merkitsevät kuviin upotetut kopiot Caravaggion tai muiden aikalaisten pääkallo- tai Jeesus-kuvista? Peräseinällä maalauksessa on luurangon lisäksi joukko pääkalloja - sininen tausta on kaunis. Monotypioissa on selvästi tehty taustaväri, josta sitten luurangot on "kaiverrettu" ja piirretty esiin. Tekniikka on mielenkiintoinen.

In every monotype there is a skeleton moving his limbs, stretching or dancing. After the first astonishment the skeletons are not at all frightening, but what are meaning the pictures of Caravaggio's or other contemporary paintings of skulls or Jesus? In the painting on the back wall there are skulls in addition of a skeleton - the blue background is beautiful. The technique in the monotypes is interesting. Clearly the background colour has been done first and then the skeleton has been "carved" and drawn.
