This card with embossed border imitating a Victorian glossy picture has been printed in Hong Kong. A cat is proposing a hare on his knees. What an unbelievable subject! At least you can not criticize this picture to be too cute. Even the moon is somehow looking threatening.
Tampereen kaupungin ja Pohjois-Pirkkalan rajalle pystytettiin komea harmaagraniittinen rajapyykki vuonna 1903. Vuonna 1937 Pohjois-Pirkkalaan kuulunut osa eli Pispala liitettiin Tampereeseen ja rajapyykki poistettiin. Kivi makasi kaupungin varastossa vuosikymmeniä, kunnes paikallisyhdistys Pispalan Moreenin aloitteesta rajapyykki palautettiin vuonna 2007 takaisin Rajaportille. Tein aiheesta aika ison (30 x 14 cm) linopiirroksen. Vedostettaessa lisäsin osaan kiveä valkoista väriä mustan päälle, jolloin kiven rosoisuus tulee paremmin esille. Yksi parhaista työvälineistä käsin vedostaessa on hyvin kämmeneen sopiva painava graniittinen kivi, jonka olen löytänyt Pyhäjärven rannalta. Kivessä on hieno vaalea jääkauden muovaama raita. Kissa on kiivennyt kaverinsa harmiksi kivipaaden päälle, hän on siis Rajapyykin kuningas.

The gorgeous gray granite boundary stone was erected in 1903 on the border between the town Tampere and The Northern Pirkkala. In 1937 part of The Northern Pirkkala (Pispala) was united with Tampere and the boundary stone removed. The stone was lying in the storage of the municipality tens of years, until at the instogation of the local organisation Pispalan Moreeni this boundary stone was reinstated on its old place Rajaportti in 2007. I made a rather large (30 x 14 cm) linocut from this subject. When printing the picture I added some white colour on the black so that the grain of the stone might be more visible. One of the best tools printing by hand is a heavy nicely on my palm fitting granite stone that I found on the shore of Pyhäjärvi. There is a fine pale stripe shaped by the ice age. The cat has climbed on the stone pillar to the dismay of its friend, so he is the king of the boundary stone.
Reetta Isotupa-Siltasen kollaasi/sekatekniikkakuvassa sataa. Harmaat pilvet valuvat vettä. Sateenvarjossa on pilkkuja. Mutta sateenvarjon alla paistaa keltainen aurinko. Kuvan nimi on "Sinun kanssasi aurinko". Kissaystävillä on samanlaiset kirjavat sadetakit.

Mon 0ncle (Setäni) on Jan Baletin (1913-2009) kuvan nimi. Aika on ehkä 1900-luvun alkua ja tilanne on jäykkä. Setä istuu penkillä kahden naissukulaisensa kanssa ja tarjoilija kahvikannuineen on penkin takana. Tunnelma on kuin kauhuelokuvasta naisten mustine silmäkuoppineen. Ovatkohan nuo kaksi kissoiksi luulemaani eläintäkin koiria? Vihreä tausta on muhkea ja pehmeä, mutta sinnekin voi piiloutua vaikka mitä mörköjä.

Jan Balet's (1913-2009) picture is called Mon oncle (My Uncle). The time is perhaps the beginning of the 1900's and the situation is stiff. The uncle is sitting on the bench with his two female relatives, and the servant is behind the bench with the coffee pot. The atmosphere is like in a horror movie with the black hollow eyes of the women. And are the two animals actually dogs and not even cats? The green background is soft and rich, but there might be lurking all kinds of ghosts.

Kapeat viivat ovat teräviä ja terä liukuu linolevyllä melkein kuin itsestään kunhan terän ja linolevyn kulma vain on oikea, aika matala. Kuvassa kaksi kissaa ihmettelee ikkunan takana risteileviä lintuja ja pitsiverhossakin voi erottaa lintukuvion.

I tested my new most slender Pfeil lino cutter by carving a crochet curtain. The cutter is a dream! The narrow lines are sharp and the blade glides on a piece of lino almost by itself as long as the angle of blade and lino is right, rather low. In this picture two cats are admiring the birds circling behind the window, and you can perhaps distinguish patterns of birds on the curtain.
Reetta Isotupa-Siltasen kollaasissa "Seikkailusää" on sininen tunnelma. Kissa lukee sinikantista seikkailukirjaa sinikukalliseen peittoon kääriytyneenä sinisessä huoneessa, ulkona sataa lunta ja kissan silmissä on hiukan raukea ja leppoisa ilme. Tuoli on kuin kultainen valtaistuin.
