PIKKUKALOJA / TINY FISH

 Lisäsin kuvaan vedenalaisesta elämästä Pispalan rannassa pieniä kaloja, jotka ovat linopiirroksia, oikeastaan leimasimia. Oikean reunan kalat vedostin ensin valkoisella musteelle ja sirottelin päälle kiillettä. Valkoinen muste ei kuitenkaan erottunut taustastaan kunnolla, joten vedostin kiilteen päälle päälle kalat mustina. Nyt toimii paremmin. Vieläkin hiukan kesken...

I added to the picture of the underwater world on the beach of Pispala some tiny fish, which are linocuts or actually stamps. Fish at the right side I printed first with white ink and sprinkled on top of them some glitter. The white ink didn't separate from its background enough, so I printed fish black on the glitter. Now it works better. Still a bit unfinished...

KUPLIA JA VESIKASVEJA / BUBBLES AND WATER PLANTS

 

Pastelliveteen tuli kuplia, ehkä yhdellä kaloista on ilmavaivoja. Hentoja ruohoja tein pastellikynällä, samoin kuin kuplat. Vielä jatkuu....

There is emerging bubbles to the pastel water, perhaps one of the fish has flatulence. Twiggy grass was made with pastel pen as also bubbles. Still going on...

VESI / WATER

Linokalojen taustalle alkaa tulla pastellia kuvaamaan vettä. Kuvan alaosassa muutaman linosimpukan alla on kivipohja.

Behind the lino fish there starts to be pastel to depict water. At the bottom of the picture there are stones under a few lino shells. 
 

KALAT - aloitusta / FISH - beginning

 

Tästä voi tulla jännittävää, ainakin minulle! Aloitin tehdä kahta melkein samanlaista työtä vedenalaisesta maailmasta. Toinen tulee olemaan jonkinlainen koekappale ja toinen ehkä sitten parempi. Kummassakin on yläosassa linopiirros, kummassakin erilainen ja alaosassa on linopiirroksia kaloista ja simpukoista. Vesi tulee olemaan pehmeää pastellia.

This might be exiting, at least for me! I started to make two almost identical pictures of the underwater world. The other one will be like a test piece and the other one will then be a better one - hopefully. ON both of these pictures there is a linocut at the upper part, both are different, and at the lower part there are linocuts of fish and shells. The water will be soft pastel.

VEDEN ALLA / UNDERWATER

Linoleikkauksia Suomen luonnosta - sarjani jatkuu. Nyt aiheena on vedenalainen elämä järvessä. Vanhalla pesusienellä yritin tehdä sinisestä akryyliväristä hiukan raitaisen ja epätasaisen. Alareunan ahventa oli tosi hausta kaivertaa.

Linocuts of Finnish nature -series continues. The subject is now underwater life in a lake. I tried to make the blue acryl colour a little stripy and uneven with an old sponge.The perch at the bottom was quite fun to carve.

Muutama vuosi sitten näin Iittalan naivistit-näyttelyssä Martti Lehdon öljymaalauksen kissasta, joka istui vedessä olevalla kivellä ja samassa kuvassa näkyi elämää veden alla. Tämä postikortti innosti minua linoleikkaukseen " Veden alla". Ei tämä silti ole mikään kopio eikä tässä linossa ole kissaa.

I saw a few years ago in the Naïve Painters in Iittala exhibition a oil painting by Martti Lehto. In this picture there was a cat sitting on a rock in a lake and you could see some life under the water surface. This postcard was an ispiration to my linocut "Underwater". Anyway this is not a copy and there is not even a cat in my lino.
