ENCORE - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Tampereen taidemuseon Encore-näyttelyssä kohtaa aika monta jo aiemmin nähtyä suomalaisen kultakauden klassikkoa museon omista kokoelmista. Mutta on siellä uusiakin tuttavuuksia ja ennen näkemättömiä tuttujenkin töitä. Kaksi kerrosta klassikoita ja pohjakerroksessa nykytaidetta, mm. Riikka Lenkkerin hieno työ (sekin kyllä aiemmin nähty Haiharan kartanossa) ja Liisa Hietasen ihan käsittämättömät virkkaukset oikean kokoisista ihmisistä ja poliisiautosta. Kannattaa vielä käydä tsekkaamassa tämä museon tunnelma, kuin hyvä ystävä, sillä museo on menossa kiinni peruskorjauksen ja vanhan viljasiilon viereen tulevan uuden museo-osan rakentamisen ajaksi.

The Tampere Art Museum's Encore exhibition features quite a few classics from the Finnish Golden Age that you've seen before from the museum's own collections. But there are also new acquaintances and previously unseen works by acquaintances. Two floors of classics and contemporary art on the ground floor, including Riikka Lenkkeri's fine work (also previously seen in Haihara Manor) and Liisa Hietanen's incredible crochets of real-size people and a police car. It's worth checking out the atmosphere of the museum, like a good friend, because the museum is closing for renovation and the construction of a new museum section next to the old grain silo.

HANNA HAASLAHTI & MAN YAU -NÄYTTELYT / EXHIBITIONS

 

Tampereen taidemuseossa mentiin ensin kellariin Hanna Haaslahden yllättävään kokemukseen ”Kaltaiset”. Reippaana astuin kuvattavaksi astinmerkeille ja kuvajaiseni, avaruusolio, outo olento tuli ovesta muiden samanmoisten (kaikki naisoletettuja) seuraan seinille. Oli kumma kokemus!

Kaksi ylempää kerrosta esittelevät vuoden nuoren taiteilijan, helsinkiläisen Man Yaun teoksia. Matetiaaleina on melkein mitä vain keramiikasta puuhun ja tosi paljon yksityiskohtia.

At the Tampere Art Museum, we first went to the basement to see Hanna Haaslahti's surprising experience "Similar". I briskly stepped onto the step marks to be photographed and my subject, an alien, a strange creature, came through the door to join others of the same kind (all assumed to be female) on the walls. It was a strange experience!

The two upper floors present the works of the young artist of the year, Man Yau from Helsinki. The materials are almost everything from ceramics to wood and there are a lot of details.

SURREALISM! -NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Käytiin Tampereen taidemuseossa Surrealism! - näyttelyssä. Porukkaa oli tupa täynnä ja odotukset korkealla. Kokemus jäi kuitenkin odotuksia valjummaksi. Töiden aikajana oli pitkä 30-luvulta 90-luvun loppuun. Varhaisemmat olivat mielestäni parempia. Pari teemaa nousi esiin: huoneellinen unimaailmoja, ja yläkerran pääsali oli omistettu naisten rinnoille.

 We visited the Surrealism! exhibition at the Tampere Art Museum. The museum was packed with people and expectations were high. However, the experience fell short of expectations. The timeline of the works was long, from the 1930s to the end of the 1990s. I think the earlier ones were better. A couple of themes emerged: a room full of dream worlds, and the main hall upstairs was dedicated to women's breasts.

HYPER - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Pitihän se supersuosittu Hyper-näyttely nähdä Tampereen taidemuseossa. Aavistelin, että näyttely voisi olla pelottava, mutta enemmänkin tuli vertailtua sitä, miten hyvin tekijät olivat onnistuneet tavoittamaan ihon aidon tunnun, värivivahteet, rypyt, luomet ja karvat. Jotkut työt näyttivät aika paljon mallinukeilta, ilmeitä ei tavoiteltukaan. Ja miten oli onnistuttu saamaan yhden miehen kasvot liikkumaan veistoksen ”puhuessa”. Ron Mueckin lakanaan kääriytynyt vanha mies oli koskettava. 29.9.2024 asti hämmästeltävissä.

 I really wanted to see the super popular Hyper exhibition at the Tampere Art Museum. I guessed that the exhibition could be scary, but it was more important to compare how well the creators had managed to achieve the true feel of the skin, color nuances, wrinkles, moles and hairs. Some of the works looked a lot like mannequins, expressions weren't even aimed for. And how was it possible to get one man's face to move while the sculpture was "talking". Ron Mueck's old man wrapped in a sheet was touching. Amazing until September 29, 2024.

Kerrassaan mainio uutinen!

Tampereen taidemuseo hankki Tampereen kaupungin kokoelmaan yhdeksän Pispala-linopiirrosta lisää aiemmin hankittujen kolmen lisäksi. Nämäkin linopiirrokset varmaan aikanaan sijoitetaan johonkin Tampereen kaupungin omistamaan tilaan, kouluun, päiväkotiin tai työhuoneisiin. Aiemmin museon hankkimat kolme Pispala-aiheista linopiirrosta sijoitettiin Pispalan uusittuun koulurakennukseen.

Nyt olen siis tusinataitelija, mutta iloinen sellainen!

All in all, this is great news! The Tampere Art Museum acquired nine more Pispala linocuts for the collection of the city of Tampere in addition to the three previously acquired. These lino drawings will probably eventually be placed in a space owned by the city of Tampere, in a school, daycare center or workrooms. The three Pispala-themed linocuts previously acquired by the museum were placed in Pispala's renovated school building.

So now I'm artist by the dozen, but a happy one!

TUULA LEHTINEN & CHARLES SANDISON - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Entisten työtoverien kanssa käytiin erinomaisesti opastetulla kierroksella Tampereen taidemuseon näyttelyissä. Ylemmissä kerroksissa Tuula Lehtisen (s. 1956) maalauksia, grafiikkaa, posliinia ja mosaiikkiakin.Lehtisen näyttely on hieno retrospektiivinen katsaus hänen uraansa. Hauska on nähdä opiskeluajan grafiikkaa mm. opintomatkalta Egyptistä. Ja egyptiläiset vaikutteet näkyvät hyöhemminkin, jo aika iso värillinen grafiikka uimaa-altaasta on 38 vuotta vanhempi kuin uusi maalaus pihakaivosta verhojen takaa, molemmat näkymiä hotellihuoneesta. Ensimmäisissä värillisen grafiikan töissä on yhdistetty vanhoja valokuvia ja esim. lumpeenlehtiä. Myöhemmin värilliset grafiikan lehdet vain suurenevat, niissä on maaginen tunnelma, kuu ja näkymä Näsinkalliolta. Paljon näkyy maalauksissa hollantilaisten vanhojen asetelmien vaikutus. Ja ihan hurjia ovat aika uudet suuret maalaukset, joissa osaan taulua on kopioitu aihe jostain klassisesta muotokuvasta ja ison osan pinnasta täyttävät eriväriset viivat. Alakerroksessa Charles Sandisonin s:1969) valoteos, tekstiä, pilkkuja ja liikettä. Molemmat taiteilijat ovat tamperelaisia, joten ylpeähän tässä voi olla.

We went on an excellent guided tour of the Tampere Art Museum exhibitions with former colleagues. On the upper floors there are paintings, graphics, porcelain and mosaics by Tuula Lehtinen (b. 1956). Lehtinen's exhibition is a great retrospective of her career. It's fun to see the graphics of the study time, e.g. from a study trip in Egypt. And the Egyptian influences can be seen even later, the already quite large colored graphic of the swimming pool is 38 years older than the new painting of the courtyard well behind the curtains, both views from the hotel room. In the first works of colored graphics, old photographs and, for example, water lily leaves have been combined. Later, the colored graphic pages only get bigger, they have a magical atmosphere, the moon and the view from Näsinkallio. The influence of old Dutch still lifes can be seen in a lot in the paintings. And quite wild are the new large paintings, where a part of the canvas is copied from a classic portrait and a large part of the surface is filled with lines of different colors. Downstairs there is Charles Sandison's (b:1969) light work, text, dots and movement. Both artists are from Tampere, so you can be proud of this.

MUSEOITU! / MUSEUMIZED!

 

Minut on nyt museoitu! Tampereen taidemuseo teki hienon päätöksen ja hankki kolme Pispala-aiheista linopiirrostani Tampereen kaupungin kokoelmiin. Tämän kokoelman teoksia sijoitetaan kaupungin tiloihin, työtiloihin, hoitolaitoksiin ja kouluihin. Unelmissani voisin ajatella, että näille töille löytyisi uusi koti läheltä Pispalaa, vaikkapa Pispan remontoidulta koululta. 

Hankintapäätös oli minulle aikamoinen yllätys tällaisena naivistina, joka ei kuulu edes Tampereen taiteilijaseuraan (joka ei ehkä jäseneksi edes hyväksyisi itseoppinutta taiteilijaa). Koen sen jonkinlaisena arvostuksena koko naivistista taidesuuntausta kohtaan. Ja suuri tekijä kehittymisessäni ja taiteen teon mielekkyydessä on  ollut ilman muuta Naivistit Iittalassa -näyttelyihin osallistuminen, erinomaiset kuraattorit (Irene Wai Lwin  Moe, Hannu Castrén ja Veikko Halmetoja),  organisointi (Ulla Heinonen ja muut), toiset naivistit ja tietenkin katselijat ja ostajat, joita on kohdannutkin. Olen mielestäni ihan syystäkin ylpeä!

I am now museumized! The Tampere Art Museum made a great decision and acquired three of my Pispala -themed linocuts for the collections of the city of Tampere. Works from this collection are placed in city spaces, workplaces, nursing homes and schools. In my dreams, I think that these works would find a new home near Pispala, for example at the renovated school of Pispala.

The acquisition decision was quite a surprise to me as a Naïve artist who doesn't even belong to the Tampere artist association (which might not even accept a self-taught artist as a member). I feel it as some kind of appreciation towards the whole Naivist art trend. And a big factor in my development and in the meaningfulness of the work of art has undoubtedly been participating in the NaÏve Artists in Iittala exhibitions, the excellent curators (Irene Wai Lwin Moe, Hannu Castrén and Veikko Halmetoja), the organization (Ulla Heinonen and others), other Naivists and of course the viewers and buyers I have met. I think I'm proud for a good reason!

SIVELTIMEN VOIMA - NÄYTTELY / POWER OF THE BRUSH - NÄYTTELY

 Tampereen taidemuseon  näyttely "Siveltimen voima" esittelee taidetta Suomalaiset taidesäätiöt ry:n kokoelmista. Teokset on valittu aika löyhästi edustamaan suomalaista ekspressionismia tai taiteilijan omien tuntemusten esittämistä 1800-luvun lopulta nykypäivään. Joukossa on aika paljon harvemmin nähtyjä töitä pankkien ja muiden liikelaitosten kokoelmista. Joukosta voi hyvin poimia omia suosikkejaan. Museon alakerrassa on Dimensio-ryhmän näyttely, jossa pääosassa ovat valo, liike, ääni ja väri yhdessä tai erikseen. Käytiin näyttelyissä kirjaston Aatetoverit -ryhmän kanssa ja tutkailtiin mm. Timo Heinon munankuorilla päällystettyä lapsi-hahmoa valopedillä. Lapsi ei ollut ihan noin pelottavan näköinen kuin valokuvassa.

 "Power Of the Brush" exhibition at Tampere Art Museum presents art from the collections of Suomalaiset Taidesäätiöt ry / Finnish Art Foundations. The works have been selected rather loosely to represent Finnish expressionism or presentations of artists' own feelings from the end of the 19th century to the present. There are quite a lot of rarely seen works from the collections of banks and other firms. It´s easy to spot your own favorites. At the basement of the museum there is an exhibition by Dimensio Group. In the main role here are the light, sound, movement and colour, all together or separate. We visited the exhibitions with a group of friends from  library scrutinizing e.g. Timo Heino's child character covered with pieces of eggs on a light bed. The child was not quite so sinister looking as in the photograph.
