LINOPIIRROKSIA LEHDILLÄ - kehyksiin / LINOCUTS ON LEAVES - Framed


Vedostaessa linopiirroksia kasvin lehdille en ajatellut ollenkaan, miten ne sitten saa kiinnitetyksi paperille/pahville ja kehystetyksi. Onneksi Facebookissa on ihan ryhmä Linocut Friends. Kysyin ohjeita ja niitä tuli paljon - ja hyviä. Lehtien kehystyksessä on selvästi kaksi huomioitavaa kohtaa: lehtien säilyttäminen ehjinä ja kiinnittäminen taustaansa. Vedostetut lehdet ovat aika hauraita, ne voivat murentua tai hajota. Lehtien säilyttämiseen ehjinä ehdotettiin  muutamia tosi hyviltä kuulostavia aineita, joita olenkin nyt hankkimassa, esim. Mod Podge ja glyseriini. Taustaansa kiinnittämiseen tuli hienoja ideoita mm. ompelu tai tikkaus. Tätä aion kokeilla ennen vedostusta tuoreen lehden kanssa. Kuivan lehden kiinnitykseen ehdotettiin yleisesti suihkutettavaa liimaa, ja sellaista minulla olikin kaapissa. Kokeilinkin sitten ensimmäisenä liimausta taustapahviin, tein liiman ruiskuttamista varten sapluunat ja kuivatin liimattuja lehtiä painon alla (ensin sanomalehteä, sitten lehti taustapaperiin liimattuna leivinpaperin välissä ja lisäksi pala pahvia päälle). Kiinnitys tuntui toimivan. Kehystin muutaman lehden malliksi. Seuraavaksi kokeilen vielä tuon säilyttämispuolen.

When printing linocuts on plant leaves I didn´t think at all, how can I then attach the leaves on paper or cardboard and get them framed. Luckily there is a lovely Facebook group Linocut Friends. I asked for advice and got them a lot - and good ones. Framing the leaves there are clearly two points to consider: how to preserve leaves unbroken and how to affix them to their background paper. The printed leaves are rather brittle, they can break down and fall apart. There were a couple of really good dictates for materials for preserving the leaves intact, and I´m going to acquire some of these: for example Mod Podge and glycerin. I also got some really interesting ideas for attaching leaves on  their background, for example sowing or stitching a leaf on its background. This is what I will try with a fresh leaf. The most suggested material for attaching leaves was spray glue, and I had some of it in my cupboard. So I tried at first gluing my linocut leaves on paper, I made stencils for spraying the glue, and let the glued leaves to dry under some pressure (first newspaper, then a leaf glued to its background paper between sheets of baking paper and lastly a piece of cardboard). The fixing seems to work out fine. I framed a few leaves as a model. Next I will try that idea for preserving leaves.
