Elokuun loppu - taas on aika tehdä linopiirros uutta joulukorttia varten. Ei haittaa vaikka aurinko paistaa ja kaikki on vielä vihreää. Mielikuvituksessaan voi nähdä Pispalan talojen katoilla paksun lumikerroksen, portaat melkein lumen peitossa ja kissan valaisemassa tietään kynttilälyhdyllä. Tätä linopiirrosta oli aika hankala kaivertaa ja kuvitella kaikki nuo valkoiset lumiset kohdat ja kaivertaa ne kylmästi pois. Väritin käsin kynttilälyhdyn, tähdenlennon ja kissan raidat keltaisiksi, jotta ne erottuisivat paremmin taustasta. Kiinnostaisi vielä kokeilla koko linon värin vaihtamista, ehkä tumman siniseksi?

End of August - again its the time to make a new linocut for a new Christmas card. It does not matter if the sun is shining and all is still green. In my imagination I can see a thick layer of snow on top of the roofs in Pispala, the stairs almost covered with snow, and a cat illuminating his way with a lantern. It was quite difficult to carve this linocut imagining all those snowy and white spots and just carve them coldly away. I coloured the lantern, shooting star and cat´s stripes yellow, so they would separate better from the background. I´m still interested to change the whole colour of this linocut, perhaps to dark blue?
