Kangasala-talosta on lyhyt matka Villa Armas -galleriaan, jossa maisemateema jatkuu Ulla Hakulisen herkissä ja hennoissa vesiväritöissä.
***********
Einar Ilmoni's (1880-1946), an artist from Kangasala, memorial exhibition is at Kangasala House. Helene Schjerfbeck was Ilmoni's teacher, and I think her influence is visible in Ilmoni's hazy landscape paintings. The colour surfaces are large, merging with each other, and some perspective has been created with tree trunks or branches which are dividing the surfaces. His self portrait which is also in the exhibition poster is impressive, but other portraits in the exhibition are rather stiff, and they can not be compared to couple of Schjerfbeck's dramatic and romantic paintings also on display.
It's a short trip from Kangasala House to Villa Armas gallery, where the landscape theme continues with Ulla Hakulinen's delicate and tender watercolour paintings.
