The markings of the brush are visible. You can almost see, how fast the colours have been applied to the paper. the trick of the picture are the shadows, which are forming like a grid on the grass and rug. The vertical forms of the chair and the stripes of the rug are making their own patterns. The crisscross of the chair is repeating the shapes of the shadows. The small black cat is actually just a silhouette in the bright light.
