Kissa tuolilla (Cat on a Chair) on englantilaisen Lucy Willisin maalaus. Kirkas talvinen valo tulvii ikkunasta. Kissa on kääntynyt auringonvaloon ja lämpimään päin. Valo luo kauniin hohtavan kehyksen kissan ympärille ja tuolille. Tuolin varjo heijastuu lattialle kuin tyynen veden päälle.

Cat on a Chair is painted by English Lucy Willis. The bright wintry light is streaming from the window. The cat has turned to the sun light and warmth. The light crates a beautiful halo around the cat and on the the chair. The shadow of the chair is reflecting on the floor like on a still water.

Työn nimi on Kissa kerällä raidallisella pyyhkeellä (Cat Curled up on a Striped Towel).

The patterns and shapes in this painting by English Lucy Willis are almost like in graphics: clear and sharp. Usually Willis´s works are watercolour paintings, but this is something else. I would believe that the cat was quickly done with black ink, and the towel beneath with coloured pencils. The shape of the cat is a splendid circle, and you can gradually distinguish the black head and ears. The name of this work is Cat Curled up on a Striped Towel.

Kissa matolla (Cat on Rug) on tämän Lucy Willisin kissakuvan nimi. Tuolin jalkojen ristikko toistaa varjojen muotoja. Pieni musta kissa matolla on oikeastaan vain siluetti kirkkaassa valossa.

Lucy Willis' s cat picture is called Cat on Rug. The painting is clearly watercolour, and how beautiful. This is the use of watercolour at its best, clear and bright. The markings of the brush are visible. You can almost see, how fast the colours have been applied to the paper. the trick of the picture are the shadows, which are forming like a grid on the grass and rug. The vertical forms of the chair and the stripes of the rug are making their own patterns. The crisscross of the chair is repeating the shapes of the shadows. The small black cat is actually just a silhouette in the bright light.
