Englantilaisen Ralph Hedleyn (1848-1913) maalauksessa silmiään auringonvalossa siristelevästä kissasta (Blinking in the Sun) on lämpöä. Kuva on Hedleylle tyypillinen arkielämän realistinen laatukuva. Rappaus rapisee, keramiikkapurkki on märkä ja pelargonian lehdillä leikkii valo. Kissa on sulkenut silmänsä, mutta se on kaukana uneliaisuudesta. Asento on valpas, ja häntä heiluu varoittavasti.

There is warmth in this painting Blinking in  the Sun by English Ralph Hedley (1848-1913). The picture is a Realistic Genre painting, typical for Hedley. The plaster is cracking, ceramic pot is wet, and the light is playing on the leaves of the geranium. The cat has closed his/her eyes, but there is not any sleepiness here. The posture is wakeful and the tail is swinging alarmingly.
