**********
The predominant style in this year's BP Portrait Award exhibition was still Hyper Realism. The motionless close up painted faces revealed every spot and pore, wrinkle and hair. But this year my attention was taken by several female almost Pre-Raphaelite portraits. In these the background seemed to be nearly more important than the person, and to paint it the artist had used a lot of imagination, skills and even joy. This exhibition was as before in The National Portrait Gallery in London.
