PISPALAN KOULU: 3 / PISPALA SCHOOL: Part Three

Linoleikkaus Pispalan koulusta alkaa olla valmis. Tämän tummahkon linolevyn kanssa on melko vaikea kuvitella, miltä lopullinen vedos näyttää. Linolevyllä kaikki kaivertamattomat (mustaksi jäävät) kohdat näyttävätkin nyt vaaleilta ja kaiverretut kohdat eli valkoiseksi jäävät alueet tummilta. Yllätyksiä saattaa olla luvassa. Ja tietenkin lopullinen kuva on myös peilikuva kaiverruksesta. Minulla ei ole prässiä, joten vedostus on tehtävä käsin. Näin ison (40 x 30 cm) kanssa vedostus saattaa olla hankalaa, ehkä joudun turvautumaan nurmikkojyrääni.

My linocut of Pispala School will be getting ready. With this darker lino sheet it´s quite difficult to imagine how the final print might look like. On the lino sheet all the not carved spots (which remain black) seem now to be lighter, and the carved spots which will be white on the print now seem to be darker. There might be some surprises in the store. And of course, the final print will be a mirror image of the carved lino. I don't own a press, so the pulling of the linocut must be done by hand. It might be a bit difficult pulling this big (40 x 30 cm) linocut, so perhaps I have to use my lawn roller.
