TIAINEN / GREAT TIT

 

Neljäs linopiirroslintu monotypia-pohjalla on tiainen. Nyt kokeilin punaisia taustoja. Tummin punainen on vedostettu ensin ja muut ovat ns. haamuvedoksia. Yhteen lisäsin pieniä linopiirroslintuja ja yhteen pieniä punaisia sydämiä, linopiirroksia nekin. Näissä kuvissa minua ei ollenkaan haittaa monotypioita vedostaessa linopiirrosten kohdalla olleiden sapluunoiden jättämät jäljet. Kuvan koko on 15 x 15 cm.

The fourth linocut bird on a monotype base is a great tit. Now I tried red backgrounds. The darkest red has been printed first and the others are so-called ghost prints. I added small linocut birds to one and small red hearts to another, also linocuts. In these pictures I don't mind at all the traces left by the stencils that were on the places of linocuts when printing the monotypes. The size of the picture is 15 x 15 cm.

Yksi lintu vielä sarjaan pieniä linopiirroksia monotypia-pohjalla. Tämä on tiainen lennossa, siivet ja pyrstö levitettyinä. Kaunis käsinväritetty keltainen vatsa näkyy hyvin. Kuvan koko on 9 x 9 cm.

One more bird in the series of small linocuts on a monotype base. This is a tit in flight, wings and tail spread. The beautiful hand-colored yellow belly is clearly visible. The size of the image is 9 x 9 cm.

 Väritän usein linopiirrostiaisen posken keltaiseksi. Mutta näissä linnun poski on värittämättä, sillä tausta on aika kirjava monotypia. Tiaisten lento on nopeaa, siivet levällään ne lehahtavat oksalta toiselle. Tämänkin kuvan koko on vain 12 x 12 cm.

I often color the linocut tit's cheek yellow. But in these, the bird's cheek is not colored, because the background is a rather colourful monoprint. Tits fly fast, with their wings outstretched they flutter from branch to branch. The size of this picture is only 12 x 12 cm.

LINTUJA MONOPRINTEILLÄ / BIRDS ON MONOPRINTS

 Muutama lintukin on nyt vedostettu 12 x 12 cm mooiprinttitaustalle. Joihinkin vaaleampiin lisäsin kuvioita llinoleimasimella, lumihiutaleitakin. Ehkä linnuista tunnistaa tiaisen, rastaan ja kolibrin.

Some birds are now printed on 12 x 12 cm sized monoprint backgrounds. I added patterns with lino stamps on a couple of lighter ones. Perhaps you can recognize a great tit, thrush and hummingbird.

Alkutalvi Suomessa on tosi pimeää ilman lunta, ja koronapandemia laittaa eristykseen. Mikä silloin hauskempaa kuin aloittaa sarja linopiirrosten vedostusta monoprinteille. Aion tehdä tämän sarjan 16 x 16 cm kokoisille paloille papereita, joita löytyy varastostani, ohuempia ja paksumpia. Ensin teen monoprintit linojen taustalle, ja se on kivaa hommaa, mutta sotkuista. Käytän Gelliprint-pohjaa ja linovärejä, luonnosta löytyneitä kasveja ja lehtiä, pitsiä ja mitä nyt keksinkään. Ensimmäisenä on valmiina muutama lintu: tiainen.

The early winter in Finland is dark without snow, and the Covid-19 pandemic means isolation. What is more fun at these times than to start a series of linocuts printed on monoprints. I´m going to make this series on 16 x 16 cm pieces of paper that I find in my storage, thinner and thicker. First I make monoprints for the backgrounds of the linos, and it´s a fun job but messy. I use Gelliprint sheet and lino colours, plants and leaves found in nature, lace and whatever I discover. First to be ready are a few birds: tits.

TIAINEN / TIT

Toinen pieni linopiirros linnusta on tiainen. Käytän näitä pieniä 10 x 10 cm lintuja osana isompia lino/pastellitöitä. Nämä ovat hiukan kuin leimasimia. Mutta voi pieniä lintuja käyttää sellaisinaankin, etenkin jos vedostaa linon  jollekin kuviopaperille tai yhdistää siihen monografiaa.

The second linocut of a bird is a tit. I use these small 10 x 10 cm birds as a part of larger lino & pastel works. These are a bit like stamps. But I can use small birds as such, especially if I print them on a piece of patterned paper or combine it with a monoprint.
