KISSAT KYLPPÄRISSÄ / CATS IN BATHROOM

 

Lisäsin linopiirrokseen kaakelilattiasta ja kissoista kuvan yläosaan tapettikuvioita, joiden alla on hiukan sienellä taputeltua väriä. Tapettikuviot ovat pieniä linoleimasimia, joita painoin kuvaan leimasinvärillä. Tarvitaan vain pieni pala paperia suojaksi kun painaa tapettikuvion niin, että siitä osa menee kuvan ulkopuolelle. Tämä kuva on tehty palapeli/ jigsaw -tekniikalla eli yhdistämällä vasta vedostusvaiheessa erivärisiksi väritetyt palaset: reuna, kissat ja kaakelilattia. Mielessäni tämä on kylpyhuone, mutta voihan olla myös eteinen.

I added some wallpaper patterns to the upper part of my linocut of tile floor and cats. Under the patterns there is some colour patted by a sponge. The wallpaper patterns are small lino stamps, and printed them with stamp colour. You just need a small piece of paper when printing wallpaper pattern so that part of it is outside the picture. This picture was done with jigsaw technique ie. combining at the printing stage separate different coloured pieces: the border, cats and tile floor. I imagine this is a bathroom, but why not a hallway.

PISPALA - TAPETTI / WALLPAPER

Tapetti juuri asennettuna / Wallpaper just installed

Pari kuukautta sitten eräs arkkitehtitoimisto otti yhteyttä ja kyseli mahdollisuutta käyttää yhtä Pispala-aiheista linoleikkaustani tamperelaisen firman neuvotteluhuoneen seinällä. Huoneesta oltiin tekemässä "leikkihuonetta" ja Pispalan harjua kuvaava lino sopisi sinne mitoiltaan seinänkokoisena suurennoksena tai tapettina. Seinän leveys on noin 5 metriä ja alkuperäinen linoleikkaus 40 x 60 cm. Olihan mielenkiintoinen hanke seurata! Nyt pääsin itse näkemään tapetin leikkihuoneen seinällä Tampereen Hermiassa 3 Step IT-nimisen firman tiloissa. Kuvan päällä on aika iso tussitaulu ja toisella reunalla puolapuut. Aika hauska ajatella, että joku työntekijä voisi kuvitella puolapuilla kiipellessään kipuavansa ylös Pispalan portaita. Pari muutakin neuvotteluhuonetta oli varusteltu Tampere-aiheisilla kuvilla: yhdessä oli kolme jääkiekkoilijaa ja yhden seinällä oli kehystettyjä kuvia Popedasta ja Eppu Normaalista. Hyvässä seurassa siis ollaan!

About two months ago an architectural firm contacted me about the possibility to use one of my Pispala-themed linocuts on the wall of a meeting room of an IT firm in Tampere. They were designing this room like a "playroom" for the staff, and the lino featuring the Pispala ridge would fit there fine filling the whole wall as an enlargement or a wallpaper. The with of the wall is 5 metres, and the original linocut is 40 x 60 cm. What an interesting project to follow! Now I managed to see that wall myself on the wall of a meeting room of 3 Step IT firm in Hermia, Tampere. There is quite a large whiteboard on the picture, and there are the wall bars on the right hand side of the wall. Quite funny to think, that an IT worker climbing these bars might think she/he is climbing up the Pispala steps. There was also Tampere-themed pictures in couple of other meeting rooms: three ice hockey players in one and framed pictures of bands Popeda and Eppu Normaali in an other. So I'm in the good company there!
