HARAKKA / MAGPIE

Pari harakkaa linopiirroksina ilmestyi monoptypia-pohjalle. Näistä tulikin aika tummia, ellei ihan synkkiä. Harakkahan onkin talvilintu tällaisena Suomen hämäränä talvipäivänä. Kuvan koko on vain 9 x 9 cm.

A couple of magpies appeared as linocuts on the monoptype base. They turned out quite dark, if not downright gloomy. After all, a magpie is a winter bird on such a dim Finnish winter day. The size of the picture is only 9 x 9 cm.

HARAKKA / MAGPIE

Harakka on yksi suosikkilinnuistani. Linopiirrosharakan monoprint-taustassa on hiukan yllättävän sinistäkin.

The magpie is one of my favorite birds. It is beautiful. The black and white coloring is elegant and the bird's footing on the ground is also quite royal. The sound could be better. The linocut magpie's monoprint background has a bit surprisingly blue.

HARAKAT / MAGPIES

Harakoita moniprinttitaustalla, näitä putkahti seuraavaksi. Harakat ovat linopiirroksia. Nämä kuvat ovat pieniä, vain 9 x 9 cm.

Magpies on monoprint background, these popped out now. Magpies are linocuts. These pictures are small, only 9 x 9 cm.

HARAKAT PISPALAN YLLÄ / MAGPIES OVER PISPALA

"Harakat Pispalan yllä" -linopiirros ja pastellitaivaineen on valmis. Viimeisenä vedostin keltaisen kuun ja lintuparven - kaikki linopiirroksia. Tästä tulikin aika dramaattinen, tumma ja punainen. Vaikuttavatko taiteen tekoon jo jatkuvat uhkaavat uutiset konoviruksen leviämisestä? Kuva on iso: 70 x 40 cm.

"Magpies over Pispala" - linocut and pastel sky is now ready. Finally I printed the yellow moon and a flock of birds - they are all linocuts. This work seems to be quite dramatic, dark and red. Are the constant threatening news of the spreading of the coronavirus affect already my making of art? The picture is large: 70 x 40 cm. This work will be going to the Naïve Artists in Iittala exhibition next summer, if the exhibition will be open. At least there are plans for a lending service for art and virtual exhibition/shop. Let´s see what will happen.

HARAKAT - jatkoa / MAGPIES - Continuing

Pastellitaivas Pispalan yllä on aika sininen, pilvissä on vielä punaisen auringonlaskun pinkkiä kajastusta. Kuu on jo noussut taivaalle.

The pastel sky over Pispala in quite blue, there is still pink glow in the clouds after a red sunset. The moon is already in the sky. A flock of birds with magpies is going to be in sky as a fan so that it is narrowing in the middle.

HARAKAT PISPALAN YLLÄ - aloitusta / MAGPIES OVER PISPALA - Beginning

Vedostin linopiirroksen sunnuntai-aamusta Pispalassa isohkon paperin alareunaan. Kuvan koko tulee olemaan 70 x 40 cm. Aloitin taivaan tekemällä tumman punaisen auringonalskun Pispalan harjun ylle. Taivaalle on tulossa harakoita. Jännittävää!

I printed my linocut of a Sunday morning in Pispala at the bottom of quite a big paper. I´m planning to make a pastel sky at the top part of the paper. This one will be bigger than the linocut & pastel ones I have made before. The size of the picture will be 70 x 40 cm. I started making a dark red sunset over the Pispala ridge. There will be magpies in the sky. This is exiting!

HARAKKA - MAGPIE

Monoprinttipohjien teko on kivaa.

It is fun to make monoprints. Now I made backgrounds for a linocut of a magpie. It is easy to create quite different coloured backgrounds and patterns with for example a piece of lace. These monprint-linocuts are small, 10 x 10 cm. There is now 21 different pictures, mainly blue, green or purple.

PIENIÄ LINTUJA / SMALL BIRDS

Linoleikkaukseen Pispalan harjulta halusin kanahaukan seuraksi muutaman pienemmän linnun. Tein pienet linoleikkaukset harakasta, rastaasta ja parista pääskysestä. Nehän siellä aina pyrähtävät pakoon kun taivaalle ilmestyy kanahaukka.

I wanted a couple of smaller birds to accompany the goshawk in my linocut of Pispala Ridge. I made small linocuts of a magpie, thrush and a couple of swallows. These always sprint to the flight when they see a goshawk appearing to the sky.
