KÄPYMETSÄ / CONE AND FOREST

Suomen syksy ja alkutalvi eivät varmaan koskaan ole olleet näin pimeitä, sateisia ja surkeita. Kai tämä sää heijastuu myös linoleikkauksiin. Ainakin tästä käpymetsästä tuli tumma. Käpytikka siellä hakkaa puuta katkenneiden oksien ja paljaiden puunrunojen joukossa. Yritin hiukan valaista kuvaa värittämällä vähäistä taivasta. Alareunan käpyä oli hauska kaivertaa.

Autumn and early winter in Finland might never have been as dark, rainy and sordid as now. Perhaps this weather is reflected also in my linocuts. At least this picture of a cone and forest tuned out dark. A great spotted woodpecker is banging wood among the broken branches and tree trunks. I tried to lighten up the picture by colouring the small patch of sky. It was nice to carve the cone on the bottom of the picture.
