Mustavalkoinen kissa makaa pyöreällä pöydällä valkoisen pöytäliinan päällä. Pöydällä on myös kolme jättikokoista kirsikkaa. Saksalaisen Almut Gernhardtin (1940-1989) maalaus on kaunis, harmoninen, harmaata, valkoista ja piristeenä punaista. Tämä kuva on lastenkirjasta "Mit dir sind wir vier" (Sinun kanssasi meitä on neljä). Tekstin kirjaan teki veli Robert Gernhardt (1937-2006). Kirja ilmestyi vuonna 1976.

A black and white cat lies on a round table on a white tablecloth. There is also four giant cherries on the table. The painting by the German Almut Gernhardt (1940-1989) is beautiful, harmonious, gray, white and red as a stimulant. This picture is from the children's book "Mit dir sind wir vier" (There are four of us with you). The text for the book was written by brother Robert Gernhardt (1937-2006). The book was published in 1976.

Mustavalkoinen kissa putoaa puusta toivottavasti jaloilleen yritettyään saada kiinni puussa olevan linnun. Tai kissa yrittää hypätä puuhun linnun perään, mutta tämä hyppy näyttää epäonnistuneelta. No, lintu ainakin pysyi hengissä. Maalaus on  Almut Gernhardtin (1940-1989) ja  Robert Gernhardtin (1937-2006) kirjasta "Was für ein Tag" / "Mikä päivä". Kuvan värit ovat kauniit ja pehmeät ja kissan ilme paljonpuhuva:"Voi pojat!"

A black and white cat is dropping from a tree hopefully on her feet after trying to catch a bird in the tree. Or the cat is trying to jump to the tree after a bird, but this jump seems to be unsuccessful. Well, at least the bird stayed alive. The painting is by  Almut Gernhardt (1940-1989) and  Robert Gernhardt (1937-2006) and from their book "Was für ein Tag" / "What a Day". The colours in the picture are soft and beautiful and the expression of the cat is significant; "Oh Boy!"

 Kaikki on vihreää, taustan lehvistö, lautanen, pöytä, jopa lusikka näyttää vihreältä ja siihen on kaiverrettu nimi Robert. Kissakin vivahtaa vihreään, vaikka onkin mustavalkoinen. Pöytäliinan pitsikuvio on hienosti maalattu ja kuvio toistaa tausta lehtien muotoja. Mutta miksi kissa istuu lautasella? Odottaako se ruokaa vai onko se vain tottelematon? Kuvan tekijöiksi mainitaan Almut Gernhardt ja Robert Gernhardt ja työn nimi on "Mit dir sind wir vier" /"Sinun kanssasi meitä on neljä", mikä viittaa Gernhardtin veljesten (Almut: kuvat ja Robert: teksti) tekemään humorististen runojen kokoelmaan.

All is green, the leaves in the background, plate, table, even the spoon seems to be green and there is a graving: Robert. Also the cat has hues of green, even though it is black and white. The lace pattern of the tablecloth is finely painted, and the pattern is repeating the shapes of the leaves in the background. But why is the cat sitting on the plate? Is she waiting for some food or is she just disobidient? As the makers of the picture are mentioned Almut Gernhardt  and Robert Gernhardt, and the name of the picture is "Mit dir sind wir vier" /"With You We Are Four", which is referring to a book of humorous poems by the brothers Gernhardt (Almut: pictures and Robert: poems).

Maalauksen tunnelma on salaperäinen ja vihreä. Sisällä on vihreää ja ulkona on vihreää. Kissan valkoisessa turkissakin heijastuu vihreä valo. Kissa katsoo suoraan päin sisällä olevaa katsojaa mystisen ja kaikkitietävän näköisenä. Ikkunan alla pienen laatikoston päällä on perhonen, ehkä pääkallokiitäjä, jonka varjo tuntuu nostavan sen lentoon. Yksi laatikko on auki ja seinällä on pieni muotokuva. Almut Gernhardtin (1940-1989) maalauksen nimi on "Kuulen jotain mitä en näe" (Ich höre was, was du nicht siehst) Robert Gernhardtin runosta

The atmosphere of this painting is mysterious and green. It´s green inside and outside. Even on the white fur of the cat there is a reflection of green. The cat is staring straight at someone inside and looking mystical and omniscient . On a small drawer under the window there is a butterfly, perhaps a death`s-head moth, and it´s shadow seems to lift it in the air. One drawer is open  and there is a small portrait on the wall. The painting by Almut Gernhardt (1940-1989) is called "I See What I Can Not See" (Ich höre was, was du nicht siehst) after a poem by Robert Gernhardt.

Tämä kissakortti on todella pieni, vain 9 x 7,5 cm. Kolme mustavalkoista kissaa kumartuu katsomaan kuvaansa veden pinnasta. Vai ovatko kissatkin vain kopioita isoimmasta? Taustalla oleva vihreä metsä ja taivaskin pilvineen kopioituvat veteen. Kuvassa on jotenkin surrealistinen, hiukan epätodellinen tunnelma, osaksi varmaan sen takia että kissat ovat valtavan kokoisia. Kuva on saksalaisesta lastenkirjasta "Mit dir sind wir vier" (Sinun kanssasi meitä on neljä). Kuvitus on Almut Gernhardtin (1940-1989) ja teksti Robert Gernhardtin (1937-2006) vuodelta 1976.

This cat card is really small, only 9 x 7,5 cm. Three black and white cats are bending to see their reflection on the surface of some water. Or are cats only copies of the largest one? The green forest and the sky with clouds are also reflecting on the water. There is a bit surrealistic, unreal mood in the picture, partly perhaps because the cats are huge. The picture is from a German children´s book  "Mit dir sind wir vier" (With You We Are Four). The illustration is by  Almut Gernhardt (1940-1989) and text by Robert Gernhardt (1937-2006) from 1976.
