Kiva idea: esitelyjä Interin kesäpuodin tekijöistä Runebergin mökissä. Nyt on minun vuoroni. Kiitos @viiviesmeralda
What a nice idea: presentations from the makers of Interi's summer shop at Runeberg's cottage. Now it's my turn. Thanks @viiviesmeralda
Maija Kanerva's lovely linocuts can be found in prints, cards and tea towels this summer at the Runeberg Cottage craft shop!
Kanerva says that what she likes about making linocuts is that they can be made by hand from start to finish: from engraving to printing on paper. The technique of linocut is relief printing, where the image is first engraved on a plate and then printed on paper using various tools: even a wooden spoon, stone or rolling pin! It is easier to use a printing machine, especially for larger linocuts.
In recent years, the artist has combined pastel and monotype in her works, which has made the works more colorful and also larger, as several linocuts from birds to fish and cats have been included in the same work.
The cards we also sell are printed by Tamkopio from Tampere and the tea towels by Printscorpio from Aitoo.
