Kirjaston Aatetoverit retkeilivät Lempäälässä. Tutustuttiin nukketeatteri Nirunarun historiaan ja nukkien näyttelyyn Kuokkalan museoraitilla. Tuula Martikainen esitteli noin 50 vuotta sitten perustamansa nukketeatterin vaiheita. Nirunaru on aina liittynyt kiinteästi kirjastoon ja se on varmasti iso esikuva monille Suomen muissakin kirjastoissa syntyneille nukketeattereille. Nirunarun Tuula perusti työkavereittensa kanssa Huittisten kirjastossa 1970-luvulla. Kirjastoissahan on pidetty lapsille satutunteja, joissa on luettu satuja ääneen. Mutta satutuntien yleisölle nukketeatteri on kuin luksusta. Nirunarun kohdalla nukketeatterin esiintyjät ovat tehneet myös suuren osan nukeista. Ja miten hurmaavia nuo nukkehahmot ovatkaan! Joillakin on langasta virkattu pää, joillakin muovailtu ilmeikäs pää. Nirunarulle on olljut ominaista myös aikuisille tehdyt nukkenäytelmät sekä "tilauksesta" tehdyt esitykset juhlapäiviin ja vaikkapa syntymäpäiville.

The library's Aatetoverit visited Lempäälä. We learned about the history of the Nirunaru puppet theater and the puppet exhibition at the Kuokkala museum lane. Tuula Martikainen presented the stages of the puppet theater she founded about 50 years ago. Nirunaru has always been firmly connected to the library and it is certainly a big model for many puppet theaters born in other libraries in Finland. Tuula founded Nirunaru with her colleagues in the Huittinen library in the 1970s. After all, libraries have held fairy tale lessons for children, where fairy tales have been read aloud. But for the audience of fairy tale lessons, the puppet theater is like a luxury. In the case of Nirunaru, the performers of the puppet theater have also made a large part of the puppets. And how charming those doll figures are! Some have a yarn crocheted head, some have a molded expressive head. Nirunaru has also been characterized by puppet shows for adults as well as "to order" shows for festivities and birthdays.
