The Large Cat (Iso kissa) on British Museumin grafiikan kokoelmista. Etsauksen tekijä on hollantilainen Cornelis Visscher (1629-1658). Kissan turkin ja takana olevan seinän ja ikkunan sekä valojen ja varjojen kuviot ovat täydelliset: pieniä ohuita viivoja, jotka muodostavat neliöitä ja vinoneliöitä. Kissa muka nukkuu, mutta kaikki aistit ovat valmiina jos takana näkyvä hiiri tai rotta tulee yhtään lähemmäksi. Jyrsijän ilme on melko tyhmä, tekisi mieli mennä eteenpäin ja todennäköisesti se onkin menossa kohti kissan kitaa.

Olen vuosien aikana kerännyt aikamoisen määrän kissakortteja. Museoiden kaupat ovat oikeita aarreaittoja kissakorttien kerääjälle. Useat korteistani ovat taidekortteja.

"The Large Cat" is from British Museum´s department of prints. The etching was done by Dutch Cornelis Visscher (1629-1658).  The patterns of the fur of the cat and the wall and window behind are perfect: small narrow lines, which form squares and diamond shapes. The cat seems to be asleep, but it´s senses are alert if the mouse or rat behind it comes any closer. The expression of the rodent is quite dumb, it would like to go ahead, and by the look of it it´s going to end up in the cat´s jaws.

I have collected quite a large number of cat cards over decades. Museum shops are treasure-troves for a cat card collector. Several of my cat cads are art cards.
