VIGGO WALLENSKÖLD - NÄYTTELY / EXHIBITION

Hämeenlinnan taidemuseon näyttely Viggo Wallensköldin (s. 1969) maalauksista on ajatuksia herättävä kokemus. Kuvissa on selvästi takana tarina, mutta katsoja ei sitä tiedä. Kuvat jäävät salaperäisiksi. Osaa kuvista on vaikea katsoa: hermafrodiitteja, kädettömiä ja jalattomia naistorsoja, usein nuoria tyttöjä. Joissakin kuvassa pöydällä on lamppu tai veistos, joka näyttääkin elävältä rintakuvalta, mutta miksi monessa hahmossa on sähköpistoke? Osa kuvista on takaapäin kuvattuja hahmoja katsomassa ulos ikkunasta pysähtynyttä maisemaa. Yhdessä tällaisessa ikkunakuvassa tyttö istuu tuolilla, ja kun tarkemmin katsoo hänellä ei taida olla ollenkaan jalkoja. Tunnelma kuvissa on hyvin yksityinen, eristäytynyt ja apea. Värit ovat kauniin harmaita, tyylikkäitä. Siveltimen jälkeä voi vilpittömästi ihailla. Vuosi 2013 on ollut Wallensköldille vilkas vuosi, koko museon alakerran täyttää viime vuoden tuotanto. Useissa kuvissa on valtavan suuri hame ja pieni surkastuneen näköinen pää - mieleen tulee puuntuhoojan toukka. Yläkerrassa on vanhempiakin töitä, usea Venäjän 1918 vallankumousta kuvaava ryhmäkuvakin. 

Hämeenlinna Art Museum`s exhibition of Viggo Wallensköld´s (b. 1969) paintings is a thought-provoking experience. Behind the pictures there is clearly a story, but the viewer does not know what it is. The pictures remain mysterious. Part of pictures are not easy to watch: hermaphrodites, female torsos without hands or legs, often young girls. In some pictures there is a lamp or a sculpture on the table, but the bust seems to be living, and why there is sometimes an electrical outlet? Some of the pictures depict women watching a stagnant landscape out of a window seen from behind. In one of these window pictures a girl is sitting on a chair, and when you inspect a little closer she seems to have no legs. The atmosphere in the pictures is very private, isolated and glum. The colours are beautifully gray, stylish. You can sincerely admire the marks of the brush. The year 2013 has been very busy for Wallensköld, the paintings from last year fill the whole downstairs floor of the museum. In many of the pictures there is a huge dress and a small withered-looking head - that reminds me of a butterfly caterpillar. Upstairs there are also older works, even a few group pictures depicting the 1918 Russian revolution.
