These photographs really affect! Perttu Saksa`s (b. 1977) dark and big photographs of stuffed apes are in TR1 Museum in Tampere. Perttu Saksa took photographs of apes that were captured and stuffed during the colonial years in the archives of natural history museums in Copenhagen, Brussels, Berlin and Stockholm. Glass eyes stare, the stitches of the filling lines are visible, fingers are stretching spasmodically and every remaining hair stands out. You can almost believe that these apes are living and human. You may also see in some figures parallels to real people.
Perttu Saksa jatkaa nyt elävien, ihmisten vaatteisiin puettujen apinoiden kuvaamista. Perttu Saksa contuniues now to photograph monkeys in human clothes. |
